Chances are if a ballad became a hit record in the '50s, '60s or '70s, it was
due to one man - Paul Anka. Of course, you'll instantly recognize "Diana",
(You're) Having My Baby" and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" - three of Anka's
signature hits. Anka provided Buddy Holly with his last hit "It Doesn't
Matter Any More" and wrote the "Tonight Show" theme. He was also responsible
for one of Tom Jones' biggest hits, "She's A Lady". He also wrote one of Frank
Sinatra's signature tunes, "My Way". Anka began acting in movies in the '60s,
as well as writing songs for them, most notably the hit "The Longest Day". In
2005, he released "Rock Swings", which featured big band arrangements of
contemporary standards. Paul Anka's timeless music and kinship with the
audience explain why he has endured as a top entertainer and songwriter for
more than 40 years.
