The photo opportunities are endless as we travel and make stops along the 13
mile scenic drive where you'll see beautifully layered red sandstone mountains
unique rock formations, petrified sand dunes, Indian petroglyphs, and picto-
graphs, as well as ancient roasting pits. You will view the most significant
geologic feature of Red Rock, the Keystone Thrust Fault, which is believed to
be 65 million years old. Along the way you will see a variety of cacti, yucca,
joshua trees, and other plant life. Be on the look out because we never know
when we will see big horn sheep or wild horses and burrows! Your visit will
include a stop at the visitors center with fascinating exhibits, educational
video, desert tortoise habitat, and lovely gift shop. Bring the kids along and
ask for a free junior ranger discovery book filled with fun family activities.
