After a 7.5 hour drive we were greeted by the most rude check-in folks ever and then they had the nerve to snd us over to a desk in the lobby to "pick up our guest package" which turned out to be a TIMESHARE Rep who tried everything to make us set up a 90 minute presentation before we have even unloaded our car !!!! The room was UGLY, small and had a strong smell of some kind of cheap paint. The bathroom was smaller than most cruise line bathrooms. OLD OLD OLD...don't let anyone tell you this place has been renovated .... They don't allow anyone under 18 without an adult but that is just what it is perfect for.....................

I thought the room did not look at all like the picture. I felt like I was in a bad barracks. It was a non smoking room but you could smell smoke in the hallways. It did not feel safe.

No check in parking available. No handicap parking available or any parking at all close by. Was told by security guard at check in desk that we could drive a couple of blocks over to overflow area. The other woman with me drove over to a parking space to find VERY POORLY LIT AREA WITH LARGE GROUP OF SEEDY LOOKING MEN HANGING OUT THERE. Check in was lengthy & there were customers complaining about various things. The room we were given was in an entirely different building. That building did not have elevator available on ground floor. We were told we would have to walk up stairs to get to the elevator. This was not possible since I have health problems & we had a newborn in a stroller & another adult with a phobia of stairs. After talking with staff at check in desk we waited a very, very, very long time for someone in management. We were finally given a ground floor room in the main building. We were greeted at the door to our room by bugs on the door & more inside. There were long, blonde hairs on the bed linens. The bathroom was extremely small & there was no where in it to place clothes while changing - not even a hook on the door. One of the adults in our group kept hitting shoulder on the toilet tissue holder while trying to sit on the commode because it was soooooo small. Even though there was supposed to be internet availability with wi-fi this was not the case. The small kitchen area was the better part of the room, but even it had some dents & dings in some of the appliances. Location of room was in area where there was VERY EXTREME amount of noise from people all hours of the night as they were entering the building!!!!! We only spent the night because we had a small newborn & needed a place to heat a bottle!!! WE DID CHECK OUT EARLY THE NEXT MORNING WITH CANCELLATION OF THE SECOND NIGHT & REFUNDS TO BE MADE ON CREDIT CARD!!!!! I'm not a person to complain, but needless to say you can see this was a totally bad experience from start to finish!!! We were not the only ones to have these problems as others were complaining of the same problems when we entered to check in.

Let me first start by saying that i rarely leave bad reviews, I can usually find the positives in any experience..but alas my stay at Palmetto Shores has proven me wrong. To sum it up, this hotel is just plain trashy. Walls and floors in the rooms were filthy, wall outlets broken, elevator buttons non-functional, indoor hot tube stained, shower curtain racks hanging off the wall, cover missing on the ironing board, towels stained, etc, etc. Not to mention the rooms were stripped of every possible amenity..not so much as an extra trash bag to put your laundry in. Staying as a family we had three separate rooms all booked at the same time. The reservations were all screwed up. every room was assessed a different rate, two of the reservations were for the same room (seven people!) instead of two different rooms, the included breakfast coupons were not provided until after we complained the last day. Parking is a nightmare, the hotel is extremely noisy and full of young adults screaming across the courtyards til all hours of the night while locals drag strip up and down the road in front. The police and the front desk do little to deter the practice not wanting to offend that clientele. There is only one elevator for all 13 floors in the main bldg. This includes a service elevator so if you are checking out on Sun, forget about it...The maids lay claim to the elevator all morning long blocking entry with their carts leaving no room for exiting guests and luggage. We waited 16 minutes to get an elevator and finally had to ask a maid to exit the elevator so we could check out. She was very rude about it but at that point we didn't care and were ready to put an end to this disaster. There are lots of hotels in the area with very competitive rates..do yourself a favor and pay a few extra buck for some quiet, sanitary and service focused accommodations.

There is the main building which is large and a small four story building beside it that our room was in. It is like being in a drum. It is very loud, doors slam and echo through the building. Could not get any sleep with noise all night and morning. Its a good place to stay but this building needs to be demolished! We left on night early could not stand one more night with no sleep
