I very much enjoyed my stay at the W Washington DC (although the hotel still is not widely known by this name, instead being referred to as "the Washington Hotel" by several taxi drivers). As a walker, I enjoyed that the hotel was centrally located for my visit, making a pleasant walk to many venues, including the Convention Center. It is less than 3 blocks from the subway, making access to most every part of the city (including the airport) very quick and easy. I did, however, have several complaints arising from the room's shower, which apparently leaked substantially each time it was used. The first time (a quick mid-day shower following a red-eye flight and before rushing out to a Nationals baseball game), I didn't notice any water until after returning from being out all day, and so when I discovered a small wet area of the bedroom rug, thought I had simply spilled some water without realizing. But the next morning, after my shower, I noticed water again, and thought perhaps I hadn't properly closed the shower door. But the third morning, while preparing to shower (having started the water), I noticed an area where water had already started seeping through back of the glass shower enclosure. I placed a hand towel at the corner, thinking that would be enough to address the issue. That was nothing, however, to the giant puddle that had formed in the front of the shower unit during my shower. Being a good sport (and with several large towels available), I cleaned up the mess and reported it to the front desk. Problem 1 - After telling the staff member that the shower was leaking, he asked me "Did you tell anyone about this", to which I replied, "That's what I'm doing telling you." He promised to get engineering to look at the problem, and when I returned later that day found a sign indicating engineering had, indeed, come and fixed the problem. Problem 2 - Unfortunately, the next morning I discovered they were wrong (or fibbed), as several more towels were needed to keep the floor from becoming a wading pool. Kind of frustrating service.

I only stayed here one night, and they made me feel like a perpetually valued customer. Friendly staff to all types and very efficient. Perfect location to major monuments, especially for a guest like myself with no transportation access. I am definitely staying here next visit!

I had the pleasure of staying at the W Washington during the Thanksgiving Holiday, and it was my first time in a W property. I was pleasantly surprised with every aspect. I was greeted by friendly staff, allowed to check in early, received a high-quality coffee maker delivered to my room, along with name-brand coffees that were delivered in a silky purple bag! The attention to detail at this hotel is amazing, with unique decor that you won't find at most hotels, and they have awesome designer toiletries. The look and feel of the hotel, lobby, and lounge areas is very trendy and sophisticated, appealing to the chic professional set, which I appreciated. As I left my room to explore each day, fresh hot apple cider was available as I faced the brisk temperatures. This hotel is one of the closest to most sights one would want to see in the Mall area. In the evening, the lobby bar was a very nice place to meet new people and chat. (Bill, the bartender, was very entertaining!) Lastly, the fact that they volunteered to print my boarding pass and have it ready for me at check out was very convenient. The only negative I can state would be the lack of free interenet service. I would definitely stay here again, and look forward to doing so in the near future!
