Hotel very nice. The people are very friendly. Staff very attentive. One big issue for us was that they would only give you one key per room. The key was an actual key not a card key, also key had the room number which I thought was not smart at all. For us,a family of four was very inconvenient . Also horrible wi fi service.

The hotel is pretty and the pool and beach are great. Most of the hotel rooms face a close hillside or a new hotel under construction. The food and beverage quality was terrible. The themed dining options were equally as bad. Housekeeping was very poor and minibar service was not existant. I would not go to another RIU chain again even though the physical facilities were nice.

  • Watch out for the new construction!!!

Overall my husband and I had a good time. The food was good, the entertainment was well coordinated and the staff was friendly. One complaint that we did have was the awful room we originally stayed in. The Riu is building a new Palace hotel right next door and our room faced the new construction. Beware when you check because if you do get one of those rooms construction starts every morning at around 7:30am. Also don't eat the pizza or hamburgers they were awful, instead eat their traditional food it was delicious. The specialty restaurants are also not special at all. All in all Costa Rica is a great place to visit.

  • Good place but the staff needs training.

I never post. The resort facilities are what you would expect from a Riu resort. The staff for the most part needs to be better. If you want a good drink, make sure you specify what you want. If you go and want to have a good time, check out Victor with Vic-Tours. We did 3 trips (fishing, horses, ziplining, rafting) with him. He became like a family member after the first trip. He's someone who goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy the trip and the kids have fun as well (which is something the resort could learn from). The food is what you would expect from an international kitchen.

  • We felt away from it all!

Costa rica is a place to get away! This hotel was surrounded by mountains and a forest/jungle that had howler monkeys right outside of our room. Yes they are constructing a new hotel right next door but we didnt hear a thing. The layout of the hotel and pools and beach are perfect. Do not rent a car they have country roads and it is worth the price to get driven. Try the excursion to heliconias by costa rica unique and enjoy the waterfalls that only the locals know about:)
