Hi, My wife and I were looking for a place to get away for a night away from the family and hussle of the holidays. After reading the review for the Renaissance from Feb 2009 I almost didn't reserve a room. I'm glad I did. Obviously whatever problems they had in Feb 2009 were remedied when we stayed there last night. The hotel was very clean, quiet and close to shopping of everything we needed (shopping, movies, restaurant, etc.) The staff was excellent, the guy that checked us in, even walled us to the elevator and pushed the button for the floor of our room. I would stay again and recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice get away.

We arrived at the hotel around 3:00 pm to find that our room wasn't ready. This was a surprise to us because the hotel didn't seem to be full. We walked around the area, did some shopping and returned at 5pm. Our room was ready. We decided to dine at the lobby restaurant. Big mistake, not only was the menu overpriced, but the silverware was stained. I had to ask for a fork not once but twice. We stayed at this hotel because it was new and we thought it would be nice. It was a nice looking hotel but the service was not good. We went out for the evening and when we returned we decided to have a drink in the lobby bar. BIG mistake again. The bartender would only talk to his friend who had come in after us and gave him the remote control of the television. We we interested in the program that was already on. The bartender didn't even ask us if we minded. To top off our first night. The toilet in the bathroom was making a horrible noise all night, I couldn't sleep so I ended up in the lobby on the internet for a couple hours. When I told the front desk all they could say is sorry and that they would fix it the next day. While I was on the internet, I searched for other accomadations in the area. What was supposed to be a 3 night stay turned into a 1 night stay. I'll tell you moving from the hotel to another hotel wasn't fun. I ended up at the old trusted Ulmstead. I'll never stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody else.
