Our family of four returned for a second visit to The Reserve. Our children ages 17 and 18 count down the days until we can relax in paradise. If you want a week of lounging at the beach or pool, this is the place. This year we upgraded to a swim up suite and will do so again. We enjoyed getting to know the wait staff and chefs and their personal service. Luis Rodriguez, Jairo Pacheco, Jeffery Diaz, and Adenauell Perez went above and beyond what we expected and connected with our family making us feel welcome and like we were having a meal at a good friend's home. Our family works and studies hard and just want a week of reading good books with our feet in the sand or with our toes in the pool. Can't wait to return!

My wife and I recently stayed for a week in Punta Cana as part of a larger group. We are very conflicted regarding our stay at The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real. Some aspects of the stay were remarkable, and others were forgettable. Its certainly a great resort, but there were enough detractions that I cannot rate it 5 stars.  This was our first stay in either Punta Cana or the Dominican Republic, but we've stayed in several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico in the past. So perhaps our opinion is skewed by the amazing experiences we've had in Mexico. Facilities - 5 Stars The resort grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The pools were very nice, and the kid's pool was perfect for the young ones. The Kids Zone had an abundance of toys and crafts etc, and it looked like a fun place. There was plenty of pool furniture, so we never had much of a problem finding a place to put our stuff. The beach is beautiful, and plenty of palapas and chairs available. The fitness center was very nice with plenty of modern equipment. We never got a chance to experience the spa. Rooms - 3.5 Stars The rooms are pretty huge, well appointed, and clean. The beds were comfortable, although the pillows were not (apparently you can request different pillows, though).  We had to change rooms after one night due to an ant infestation in our first room - they were in every room and on every piece of furniture. We were moved to a Master Suite - which was simply enormous and would be great for a larger family. I wasn't particularly impressed with the snack/drink selection in the rooms. Also, we had a bad experience using the outdoor jacuzzi that required taking a second bath inside.  So, maybe you can start to see why we were conflicted by the juxtaposition of our stay - the rooms were fabulous and huge, but we first had to escape ants and then avoid using our outdoor bath. Tthe view from our third floor balcony was nice overlooking the pool - and is more open than those on the second floor. Be prepared for rain water to enter around the balcony door during downpours if you're on the third floor. Service - 4 Stars We had amazing service in some instances, and very mediocre service in others. The vast majority of the staff are very friendly, but we had a few strange experiences that while not hostile were certainly not courteous. I'd say the level of service was below that of the resorts we've stayed at in Mexico. We're not demanding an uber-luxury level of service, just consistent friendly service devoid of attitude. Food - 3.5 Stars As with the service, the food varied between decent and really great. The breakfast buffet was pretty basic and lacking variety. Some of the lunches we had were great and others were just okay - I'd recommend Gabi Beach for better lunch options. The dinners tended to be much better and the best we had was probably Vento, but Mole was also good. Nightlife - 1 Star We never attended any of the shows at Paradisus Palma Real, so can't comment, but The Reserve was like a ghost town after about 8pm. It was always strange walking through later at night with the lounge music, trendy seating, and cool lighting - and absolutely nobody there! It didn't bother us but I thought I'd mention it in case its a priority for some readers. Overall - 4 Stars I'm rating the Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real with 4 stars overall because its a gorgeous resort, with great rooms, and good, albeit inconsistent, food and service. This resort is further from the beach than Paradisus Palma Real, which was a real downer for us. It is possible to walk to/from the beach, but from our room it was just over half a mile to the Beach. So we usually ended up waiting for a golf cart to take us back. We would have preferred being much closer to the beach, and being able to smell the sea air. We ate every dinner but one at the main resort, so between going to the beach and going to dinner, we probably spent more time there than at The Reserve. The pool at the main resort is much bigger and nicer, but lacks the kiddie pool and Kids Zone of The Reserve. And the main resort is cheaper too - so maybe worth looking into... So, while we had a fun vacation, we've had better stays in Mexico and for less. I'd be hesitant to recommend this resort to friends or family, except if they were insisting on going to Punta Cana. Even then, I'd probably suggest the Paradisus Palma Real over The Reserve, except if they had kids and planned to use the Kids Zone and/or family concierge. The inconsistency we experienced combined with what we felt was the poor value of The Reserve compared to other places we've stayed will keep us from returning here again.

Just got back from paradisus palma real RESERVE. This upgraded service is suppose to provide you with beach and poolside concierge. I was there for a week saw a few staff members walking around but not once did anyone ask if I would like a drink. Also I had to offer a few U.S. dollars to the beach boy to all of a sudden have some beach chairs become available!!! The all inclusive restaurants are nothing to get excited about...buffet was better

We arrived to sunshine and champagne. The Paradisus Punta Cana put us in a beautiful room with a ocean view. We enjoyed a week of being pampered and having all our needs met. The best day was my husbands birthday. They arranged for chocolates and champagnein the room and surprised him with a cake and singing at dinner. The customer was outstanding and the facilities were immaculate. I would recommend to anyone wanting to relax and rejuvenate.
