I first want to say that the pictures shown, glamorize the hotel in a big way and are not quite factual. The 5th floor pool, though nice, was made much more attractive in the picture, as were the lobby room photos and other hotel pictures. Please makes sure to remove your valuables from your vehicle, prior to having the valet personnel park your car - that's all I have to say on that issue. A note on the housekeeping button on your phone - it doesn't work. I buzzed housekeeping for extra towels and shampoo and received no response. I buzzed the front desk for the same items and received a response that guaranteed my items. Still though, nothing was forthcomming. It wasn't until I personally appeared at the front desk, where after speaking to a front desk associate, did I receive towels and sundries. And although I believe the gals who run the front desk are spot on and basically run this joint, I did find them at times to be curt and unfriendly. During my stay, the air conditioner refused to budge and once again, I called the front desk - where I received a quick "hold," followed by the front desk associate informing me that someone would be by. Forty minutes later, my hotel room nearing 76 degrees; a handyman stopped by to clean the filter, exclaiming that he was the only one on duty that evening - servicing the entire hotel, to include two restaurants. I was grateful though, to have the airconditioner working at last. The one super perk to this hotel was the umbrellas and lawn chairs provided. This little bit of heaven, made me feel like a queen. But make sure to arrive at the beach before 1130 AM, or you won't get an umbrella. We were on the list to get an umbrella (17th name on the list) and on that particular day, we never received an umbrella and the associates were busy scrounging around looking for lawn chairs for us. They say that the luxe is the newer addition to this hotel, but our headboard was scruffed up a bit and the cable was sporadic.

We stayed at the Chelsea for three nights with 2 children. The location was great...right on the boardwalk. It was quiet as it was further down the boardwalk from the casinos. The kids loved the pools (both of them!). The valet service was very convenient (and mandatory) and only $10/day (we were there during the week). We enjoyed our stay and would go back again!

If you don't want to stay in the pre-processed tackiness of the casino hotels, and are looking for someplace a little more "hip" and stylish (which can be in very short supply in other hotels), then this is the place for you. Rooms done up in high design, a great retro-diner and nightclub on premises, and still within walking distance of the casinos if you positively MUST gamble, this place is frequented by a young and attractive (if a little "Jersey Shore"-esque) crowd. The staff can seem a little distracted, and the elevator situation is not great, but other than that, a fun place to stay.
