Stay was great. Pickup truck with a trailer? Staff has no idea where to park and directed me to a lot that ate up my money and kicked me out at midnight. I walked across the footbridge to dinner and found free parking that was half as far away, so boo for bad directions on that. What's up with nickel and dime charge for Internet? Cheesy. Otherwise no complaints.

This is one of three megahotels that flank the San Diego Convention Center along the side of the bay, and (relatively) the least impressive architecturally. That being said this Hilton has a lot to offer. My room was superbly comfortable and the view was lovely (you pay a premium for harbor view rooms, but it's worth it). Service was always courteous. There are many shopping and eating options on-site and within walking distance, including the fabled Gaslamp District, and if walking gets tiring there are taxis and pedicabs galore. You do pay for things that would be free at cheaper establishments, most notably breakfast, in-room internet (free in the lobby) and on-site parking (though there are in-and-out privileges that partly justify the stiff fee). Actually the maze-like, confusing parking garage was the only major drawback to an otherwise great stay.
