I spent one night at the Dana when I was in town to see a show. The hotel was cool, with urban decor and the amenities you'd expect. The room was small, with only a patio door and no windows, which made it seem even smaller. The tiny patio would have been fun, except that the door didn't work correctly. For that matter, the TV didn't work correctly either. But they fixed both for us quickly.

Love the concept of this type of hotel. Staff was great. Food quite good. Rooms are small (to be expected, though) and it looks like the whole place could use a bit of sprucing up around the edges - showing some wear. We would return.

I visited this hotel for a leasure trip last summer after narrowing it down from a handful of other options. What sold me on the Dana Hotel & Spa was the modern, clean feel of the hotel and the impeccible location. The Dana Hotel & Spa is that '10-minutes-from-everything' place ... you know, the type where someone says "Oh, that's about 10 minutes that way ... or "this is 10 minutes the other way". It's true, actually. Whether it's 10 minutes walking, or 10 minutes driving, The Dana is just a few steps, or a few blocks from anything in Chicago you could ever dream to experience. Magnificient Mile shopping, the beautiful "beach", and some of the most amazing food I've ever eaten in my life are just moments away from the hotel. The hotel itself is very warm. The staff is accomodating. And, most importantly, I felt I received sufficient value for my hotel stay in regards to the room's size, amenities, and overall feel. I arrived happy, and I left happy. The doormen were all fabulous, had great senses of humor, and were very accomodating and helpful. I loved them! There are a few things to note, however, that may or may not sway your willingness to stay at The Dana Hotel & Spa. The bathroom is a tricky subject. It is definitely modern, up to date, and had an overall "cool" feel to it, but for those that are modest may have a problem with the lack of "formal" shower. The only thing that separates you from the main room (and large windows overlooking the city) is a shower curtain. While simply closing the curtains does provide privacy, it's definitely not "private" in the enclosed sense most of us know. It is, however, a very large shower ... perfect for more than one. Also, I was underimpressed with the "club" the hotel offered. It was pitch black and the selection of drinks was minimal. It offered no food, but rather just a strobe-light overkill atmosphere with nothing more to do than sit on a selection of white, sterile sofas. Overall, I would stay at The Dana Hotel & Spa again. The hotel is gorgeous. It's got a beautiful spa and gym, modern and hip rooms, and a location that is second to none.

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend. The location was so convenient, the room super-clean and modern (though a bit on the small side). Great shower, robes and toiletries - you know us girls like those things. The real stand-out was the service. Such friendly, helpful staff - they gave us great recommendations for restaurants and one of the concierges pulled some strings to get us on a last-minute architecture tour that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Would highly recommend the Dana.
