We stayed four nights at the Riu Caribe all inclusive just after Christmas, and it was wonderful. Everyone on the staff was friendly, helpful, and willing to go out of the way to make us happy. Everything was clean and comfortable. The pool was nice and never too crowded. The beach has powdery white sand and plenty of thatched cabanas and chairs. The food was really good - much better than I had expected. Maria Margarita's Mexican dinner was great, and the steakhouse by the beach had excellent beef. After walking along the beach down by Playa Delfines, we concluded that we got a much better beach and overall nicer atmosphere than anything else we saw down there. Thumbs up all around.

we had an all inclusive flight and hotel package for a group of 5 and was shocked when we found out that the hotel actually was not a 5 star hotel. we could not believe that it was less than a 5 star hotel because compared to other 5 star hotels that we stayed at the hotel was either above or equal to the 5 stars we stayed at. this was actually a 3&1/2 star. the mini bar was actually loaded when we got there and restocked twice a day when we requested and even when we didn't. the water sports was fun and properly supervised ( jet skis and snorkeling). activities on the beach and in the hotel was also fun. the restaurants was better than expected. american cuisine, mexican, italian, asian and international was served. u had to reserve in advance usually at lunch or breakfast to get into the traditional mexican and asian cuisine for dinner service (shirt and pants required). the mexican restaurant had a marachi band come in and perform while having a traditional mexican meal. the asian restaurant was awesome. the food was made with true to asian form not neo or transplanted. staff was quick to give us places to shop, visit and what nightclubs to hit up while in cancun. also helped us getting transportation fast and cheap.

Great oceanview room, all food and drinks included. Most staff great! Food was pretty good, not great, but plentiful. The entertainment kids were the BEST!!! They worked their butts off. Becareful by the pool, wear water shoes, I feel and cracked my knee and torn ligaments in my foot, very slippy, lots of people slipped or fell. Daughter wound up in the hospital HOSPITEN for 2 days from dehydration (DRINK PLENTY OF WATER), don't be afraid of this hospital, clean, attentive staff, english speaking, very clean. She played a lot of sports and was in the sun a lot and was not drinking enough water. Hotel uses bottled water so it was not from getting sick from the water. All in all good hotel. Only problem, lobby not air conditioned... and some activities are in the lobby, needless to say HOT HOT HOT! Find Claudia in the lobby if you want excursions, she is great and if you purchase a few she will give you a discount. Tell her the lady who hurt her foot and daughter wound up in the hospital week recommended her.

Relaxation and entertainment all in one. Important for me to take the time to let people know what a nice place this is to stay. Very nice beach and big compared to others we viewed from looking around. Storms have taken most other beaches away. Water very nice and plenty of beach chairs and pool chairs. Its all-inclusive and the amenities are very nice with the package. Food could always be better but good choices and for all-inclusive the quality is ok being they are not going all out because cant afford to. Staff were fabulous. Friendly, attentive and professional. A big shout out to the sports and entertainment team! Wow do these people work hard to show you a good time and provide all day activities and well done shows in the evening. Then they have nightly trips to different bars and nightclubs. This is additional but cheaper and no hassle as if you did on your own. About $* for entrance and all you can drink if that is appealing to you. Im still trying to figure out when they sleep. Hotel is nicely located at the top of the hotel zone. Close to outlets, bars and nightclubs and marinas for trips. Can walk down beach 5 mins to one marina that takes you to Isla Mujeres which was a nice trip. Bus is cheap and easy. About $* US for two to ride one way. Two trips I would consider a must are the Dolphin swim at Isla Mujeres and Xel-Ha which is couple hours south of cancun but an easy chartered bus ride and an unbelievable place. Price includes all drinks and meals there as well. What a beautiful place and lots to do. Highly recommend and you wont be disappointed! Thank you Riu Caribe.

We were there for 5 nights over Thanksgiving 2009, with a ~1 year old kid. We took the GreyLine shuttle from the Cancun airport: $*/person one way (not the kid). It's about a 30 min drive. Lobby: very nice, open, with greeneries and 2 ponds with little turtles. Food: the buffet place is the Albatros. Many choices, many dishes cooked right then and there. Love the breakfast ! so many choices. Great fresh fruit smoothies, waffles and pancakes, eggs made to order... Waiters bring you coffee/capucino, wine in the evening and at noon. Theme evenings; however, the apetizer bar remains mosly the same (but many choices). The Sports bar above is open 24 hrs and offers fruits, sandwiches and cakes; it came in handy when we arrived, super-late. There are 3 reservations retaurants, but we didn't try them. The beach restaurant/pool bar is Las Gaviolas, and is open to the pool and oversees the beach (serves as Steakhouse in the evening, with reservation). It offers slightly less choices both at breakfast and at lunch, but it's very convenient . We always got a high-chair for the kid. Beach: is quite great ! Not super-large, but we never has a problem to fnd place under a palapa - that said we were there early (~9 am). The sand is white and soft, and was never hot. The beach is kept clean, and a waiter passes for drink orders and to pick up empty glasses. Pool: oh, we loved the pool, it's nice design, it's separate while linked areas... Room: standard. We had 2 double beds, and the baby's crib. There's cable TV, a stocked fridge and a hard liquor cabinet (vodka, rhum, tequila, gin), all included. Overall, waiters were vey nice, but I wish the Reception people were nicer....
