At check in we asked about the pool their restrictive pool hours, which we knew about at booking. We were told it is open for another few hours and then again in the morning. My kids were happy to hear this. After changing into swimsuits, we find the pool door locked and that the pool will not open for days. To top off this disappointment, when we got into bed, we found food encrusted on the duvet! kids found old cookies in the nightstand drawer! Then when I got into the dingy shower, I found lots of hair stuck to the wall! Really, for a decent brand name hotel, it was shocking! And the staff who could have cared less! We are not picky people, this was the first time I ever argued with a hotel staff in all of my life! For compensation, she offered some snacks from their "market" which is the small fridge next to the check out. Really? a few apples and yogurt for a very disappointing stay for a lot of money? Never again! Do not stay here! Customers were all complaining about something, in the halls, in the elevators.

Stayed 2 days before Christmas 2012 and was pleasantly surprised at the quietness (for NYC on the corner of 1 st Avenue and 92 nd Street and the FDR) and the size of the room (total of 4 persons inlcuding 2 teenagers fit easily) along with safety and excellent restaurant selection in the area (Italian, Mexican, and Indian). We were able via the subway (10 minute walk) to be at Rockerfeller center and Times Square not to mention that the Guggenheim was literally within a 15 minute walk. The major drawback was the bed...my back hurt in the morning. Would stay again...hopefully the hotel will have new mattresses by then!!!

This hotel is not near the theater district or many of the sights one comes to see. The great thing about it is that it is quiet. There is plenty of transportation in NYC to get you from the hotel to the sights. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, but you would be better off going up to 2nd or 3rd. There are some fantastic places to eat, and it's a very short walk. The security is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is helpful.

This hotel was 1/2 the price of the other hotels that I checked. The only drawback was that it was a bus ride and/or about 15 minute walk to the subway, but for the savings it was worth it. The room itself was great, pretty large for NYC in my opinion, and definitely well appointed and clean.
