I truly enjoyed my stay to the South Point. They have great amenities for kids, such as a full movie theater, bowling alley, game room and 24-hour restaurant. This hotel is great if you have your own vehicle, but if you are looking to be on the strip; you are about a few miles off. The shuttle connects to the Mandalay Bay, which is the closest connection and there are quite a few stop-offs before you get back to South Point. My advice is to rent a car for your stay or pony up for the cab ride. The room were very clean, service was great and the beds were comfy.

The weekend we stayed was one of their biggest all year...NASCAR race. The room was about on par with a Hilton Garden Inn. It was clean and the beds were o.k. The irritating part was that Monday they decided to redo the floor where the elevators were and there was only a single bank of elevators for several floors. They didn't tarp off the area and we were dressed in black attire to go to a show and dinner. By the time we got off the elevator we were covered in white concrete dust. I stay at hotels about 180 days a year and many have been under construction. This is the only time I've seen one not tarp off a construction area and plan it so only one of six elevators are open on one of their busiest weekends.

It was our first time to vegas and we are planning on going back again. The warm welcome we received at the check in desk to help locating what ever we needed was warm and friendly. The rooms were spacious and very clean and comfortable. Food was great and the hostess and waitress in the grand buffet were very friendly. Went to the Primarily Prime Resturant and the service and food was great. Casino was bright and I did not find it all that smokey like other casinos that I had visited. Hostesses on the floor were fast and friendly when serving drinks. The value and quality that we recieved was excellant. I enjoyed the easy access to the highway without having to struggle thru traffic like it was further down the strip. Housekeeping does an excellant job. Our room was always clean and fresh when ever we needed. I will strongly recommend this hotel to my friends, two of which are planning on going and staying here in the future.

The hotel markets itself as child-friendly but really isn't. The staff isnot very friendly, couldn't be bothered really. From the moment you walk in there is a very strong smell of cigarette smoke; it is everywhere, not very healthy for young lungs. It is stronger than any place else we visited on the strip. They either don't have enough air filters set up or it is because from the minute you walk in you are confronted with casino and gaming tables..there is no real lobby. They say the pool is heated.but they really skimped...the pool was freezing so unusable; they only put on the heat for the small kiddy pool. Except for the brunch which is ample and varied the food is overcooked and tasteless. They also have skimped on transportation. they stopped the shuttle bus to the strip..so expect to spend a fortune back and forth, about 30 dollars each way, by cab unless you rent a car. In the end you save money staying on the strip

We found this hotel to be a nice respite from the insanity and confusion of The Strip. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. Front desk and housekeeping personnel were inviting and friendly. One complaint-the buffet food was definitely a step or two below standard and the 24 hour Coronado Cafe seems to recycle the bad buffet food. Other than that, the oyster bar was top notch and Don Vito's the italian restaurant were great, the poker room attendants were helpful and organized and the slots were loose. Go to the Rio for your buffet and stay at South Point for the gaming and service.
