My husband and I just came back from our second trip to South Point for his annual business conference. Last year, we were amazed at how nice the resort was, it was only a year old at that time. Every room has a plasma TV, super comfortable beds, spacious rooms, nice pool, kiddie pool, hot tub. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. Staff is friendly and didn't hassle anyone that we know of. Spa and salon prices are sky high. ***I've read on the hotel site that it's located ;on the strip it's on Las Vegas Blvd, so they can get away with saying that, but it's 7 MILES SOUTH OF THE AIRPORT AND MANDALAY BAY. Last year, they had a complimentary shuttle that would make frequent trips to Mandalay Bay, the southern hotel on the strip, but they did away with that in December 2008. We flew this year, which was a mistake because a cab ride to Caesar's Palace cost us $30!!!!! That was only one way! They do ave a complimentary shuttle that runs to the airport, though, which is helpful. Last year, everyone complained about the Garden Buffet, but I didn't want to believe them. This year, we paid the $16 per person for some of the most awful food I've ever seen and tasted. Other people in our group were complaining about it this year as well. The Del Mar Deli and the steakhouse are both really good. If you drive into town, this could be a great place to stay, even if you rent a car. The cab fare to the strip and back isn't worth the trouble. This place is more for families or older folks, because it's away from the hustle and bustle of the strip.

This hotel was great when I came a couple of years ago, but now you can hardly tell it's the same place. There was a change of ownership and you can tell the difference immediately. The sinks were clogged in both rooms I checked into. The walls are paper thin so forget trying to sleep in. The decor is brown and depressing and the wall mounted TV is too loud when your neighbor turns it on. I could hear murmuring and laughing going on all night. The parking lot looked like a perfect place for a mugging so forget feeling safe. The check in service is shoddy and inefficient. I waited 30 minutes to check in while one of the guys was on the phone the whole time. The dealers here are not friendly anymore. A couple of years ago, the dealers looked you in the eye and greeted you, and the management would come and ask me if I wanted dinner comps for playing consistently. Now, they all just look like they're worried about the bad economy and wince every time you win a decent hand. I checked out the next day and decided that I'd stay away from this downgrade for good.

Fairly new hotel, we check in late Saturday night and were upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite, the room was amazing. The hotel amenities were great. We went bowling, there was a movie theatre, the restaurants were more than adequate. The only thing I hated was the gambling odds. The craps table had horrible odds, and the poker room only 2 4 limit, and 1 3 no limit holdem games. Great place to stay, gamble some where else.
