My wife and were very disappointed in the experience. I had called twice before leaving on vacation to confirm I we were in a non smoking room and was told yes both times. Upon arrival, we were put into a smoking room. We immediately went back up to the front desk were told there were no other rooms. After some pleading we were moved to a another room on the smoking floor. We spend a very disappointing night in an obviously smoked in room. In the morning the shower diverted didn't work correctly combined with the smoking odor in the room. So I went down to the front desk. I was told again there were no other rooms. After pleading and pleading we were finally moved to a non smoking room on a non smoking floor. I felt pretty degraded that I had to plead and plead in front of my wife after I had planned the vacation. The sad thing I picked the Hilton Gardens because figured this situation would never happen.

My family traveled with a group of 16 people. The hotel staff was friendly and gave great restaurant and tour recommendations. We boarded the Carnival cruise ship after staying two days in New Orleans. The port was within walking distance from the hotel. We will recommend this hotel to everyone and will stay here next time we visit New Orleans! Thank you for a pleasant experience! The Tikalsky clan!

Just came back from a stay at the HGI with a couple of my girlfriends. The location is great, 3 blocks off the French Quarter and two blocks off the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line. The hotel was very clean, and the housekeeping staff kept it that way throughout our stay. I was very impressed with how they managed to make it look like 3 very organized and orderly women were staying in our room. You can adjust the firmness and softness of the beds too! The only reason why I gave my stay 4 stars, well actually there's two reasons, 1. our view was of the other side of the hotel, so all we saw was a wall with windows 2. the female concierge staff wasn't always the friendliest they could be. The rooftop pool was great (though on the small side), no one was ever up there because the hotel's primary function is for business. The views were also pretty cool from the roof. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place. Bonus (the parking attendants are pretty cute).
