I have stayed here a few times. The hotel is in a good location on the other side of canal street from the French Quarter. Close to the Quarter but away from the noise. The rooms are very nice and well taken care off. Wifi was free at the time of this review. They also offer a free breakfast. The staff was always pleasant and friendly. When I got to my room the in room safe would not lock. I called the front desk and it was fixed immediately. They also brought a tv remote that could not be found. The room was very clean with up to date decor and flat panel tv with a very comfy bed. The room I had faced a courtyard and added to a good experience. Don't forget to grab a free cookie or two at the hotel. I have been to NOLA many times and this is a good place to stay.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this hotel was. We stayed from Dec. 5th - 19th for our honeymoon, and while we'd initially searched for something "authentic French Quarter" when planning our trip, the value and rating of the Country Inn drew us to choose this as our home away from home. I am so very, very glad we did. Our original flight was moved forward several hours, which put our arrival in New Orleans four hours later than originally planned. I called the hotel from our layover in Denver to warn them, and was told by a very friendly man at the front desk that our reservation was guaranteed until the following afternoon, so not to worry. And sure enough, we were checked right in as soon as we arrived. Our room was a single king bed room in the portion of the hotel that used to be a printing press; the outer wall was left as the original brick, which gave a nice feel to the room without being "too rustic". We had one window that faced onto the corner of Magazine & Natchez; not much to see but the parking lot & buildings across the street, but it let in plenty of light, since it's a floor-to-ceiling window. (Oh, and did I mention the 15-foot ceilings?) Luckily, the window also had blackout curtains, so that daylight didn't keep us awake when we wanted to stay in bed a little later. At first glance, I worried that the room might be too small for a two-week stay, but the dresser and closet gave us all the space we needed for our clothes, the bathroom was large enough for both of us, and there was still plenty of floor space between the bed, desk, chair, and microwave stand (for the mini fridge and microwave)...enough floor space that I was able to do morning yoga while my husband caught a few extra winks! Between the overhead light in the entryway, the desk lamp, floor lamp, and two reading lamps bracketing the bed, the room was always well-lit when we needed it, especially at night when we uploaded the day's pictures. (The internet could sometimes be a bit spotty, but the speed was good, and during times when the signal wasn't strong, we could always plug our laptops into the additional ethernet hookup.) There were plenty of outlets for things like laptops, phone chargers, and camera battery chargers. The microwave and fridge were almost brand new and worked perfectly, as did the flat-screen television (although we almost never used it). In the bathroom were the usual mini soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, although I was pleased to discover they were using Pantene hair products and Vaseline lotion. It's a little thing, but it makes a difference. Though the bottles were small, they were replaced daily when we used them, as were the towels and washcloths. (They changed bedding only every three days, although they had a card you could put on the bed if you wanted the sheets changed daily.) Speaking of cleanliness: the ladies came by every morning around 10:30 or 11 (depending on how busy they were); they always honored the "do not disturb" sign if we had it on our door, and they always knocked and waited for us to answer if the sign wasn't up. They were unfailingly polite and friendly, laughing good-naturedly if we were still in the room when they came to clean and we apologized. At the end of our days out and about, it was wonderful to come back to a clean, warm room with fresh towels, dusted furniture, and a vacuumed floor. The cleaning ladies weren't the only friendly staff, either; Every staff member we came in contact with was polite at the very least, and almost always outright friendly. If we bumped into a maintenance man, busboy, kitchen assistant, or concierge while roaming the hotel, they would smile and ask "How y'all doin'?" Often, we'd enjoy brief conversations about local events or the crazy weather (our first week here was during a nasty cold spell). The breakfast staff were often worked to a frenzy, especially on weekends, but they were always polite even when dealing with demanding guests. We had two of the best concierges in town: Frank and Sam. Seriously, if you stay at this hotel, and Frank or Sam is working, you have THE best resources for local flavors, sights, and events, especially if you're looking for something off the 'tourist' path. Breakfast was pretty standard for a hotel, but it was nice to have a different hot option that rotated each morning, from biscuits & gravy, to turkey bacon & breakfast potatoes, to breakfast burritos, to sausage patties with scrambled eggs. There were also always cereal, make-your-own waffles, pastries, toast, bagels, juices, milk, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, and oatmeal...and if you just wanted something quick to grab on your way out the door, the bar area had a setup with coffee, tea, and granola bars. The fitness room actually underwent an upgrade during our stay; they have all-new equipment now, including two treadmills, a recumbent bike, an elliptical, and a weight machine. The fact that it's accessible 24 hours was a big plus. We never used the pool, since the temperature was never above the mid-70s during our stay (and for a week, it was never above the mid-50s!), but we could see that it was cleaned every single day, as was the rest of the outdoor courtyard. One addendum about the temperature: Individual heat/cooling controls in the rooms. BIG plus, especially when the weather was so crazy. Other great touches: free cookies at the front desk every day. A lending library in the lobby, with a cozy seating area around a fireplace. Exposed wood beams in halls and in the main lobby gave the hotel an open, airy feel. Well-muffled walls (we had one neighbor who snored pretty badly, but we could only hear the faintest sound through the wall; the only time the noise was distracting was another time when we had a couple next door who REALLY enjoyed each other's company). Quiet neighborhood, even though Magazine street is a main street. We never heard any noise from outside except for one night, when a wedding party's second line passed by right outside. :) The bed was quite comfortable; a little firmer than I usually prefer, but I still slept soundly. Computers and a printer in the main lobby (great for checking out Google Maps or checking in for our flights). Within a few blocks of the French Quarter, and only a couple blocks off both the Canal & St. Charles streetcar lines. If you enjoy walking, this hotel is perfectly situated to give you easy access to all the main neighborhoods of downtown New Orleans (the Garden District, the Central Business District, the French Quarter, MidTown, Marigny, Bywater, and Uptown). Honestly, I can't think of anything bad to say. The staff truly did a magnificent job of making our stay wonderful.

We stayed one night (and will return for a second) after a cruise on the Voyager of the Seas. The port is about 3/4 of a mile from the property and cost $14 for the cab ride for two plus luggage. The hotel is very interesting as it is in several older buildings that have been merged. Our room was on the first floor and was small and overlooked a parking lot, but was comfortable and functional for our purposes. We did not spend much time in the room and as we are walkers wandered around the French Quarter which is very nearby. The hotel seems to have a very good breakfast, but we chose the nearby Ruby Slipper which was excellent. Overall a good place to stay pre cruise.
