In Vegas, bigger is better. Luxe is in. I had high expectations for the Wynn, and it delivered. However, if you really like luxury, this hotel may disappoint slightly. I admit that I am a "Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, J.W., Fairmont, St. Regis" type when it comes to luxury. The Wynn, while it is a wonderful hotel, doesn't measure up to those brands in my opinion. Also, the night club(s) in the hotel are a bit pretentious; footwear is checked...you can appear to be very thuggish/rough and get in to the club if you have the proper footwear on (no sneakers). Ironic. Finally, if you want to be at the heart of the strip, the Wynn may not be for you because it is at the end of the strip going towards downtown Vegas. Be prepared to have your own transportation to the heart of the strip, or for a very crowded bus (you can catch them at the mall which is a short walk down the road). Restaurants are ok, but one (which has changing wall panels) is sort of neat. Cuisine is unremarkable in the restaurants. Would I recommend the Wynn again? Absolutely. But you should understand that while the hotel is nice, it's not truly LUXE.

Steve Wynn's hotels are always thoughtfully over the top luxurious and comfortable, which is true with the Wynn. Even for those of us who are not gamblers, there is a lot to do and plenty of eye candy to keep us engaged-eating, pool-sitting, shopping. A fun trip for a family get-together, and a welcome relief from the Winter Blues.
