The Sofitel Washington DC gave us the best hotel stay that I have ever experienced. Upon checking in on New Year's Eve, the receptionist gave us two different room keys and advised the baggage attendant to take us to both to allow us to choose which we preferred. The second room on the higher floor was bigger and better, so of course we chose that. In essence, we received an upgrade at no extra charge. We didn't attend the new year reception at their hotel bar (Le Bar), but I was impressed that they hired a DJ and gave all guests a complimentary glass of champagne to toast. The inside of the room was beautiful, the bathroom was gorgeous, and the bed was very comfortable. Even the garden tub was immaculate. Each and every staff member that we interacted with during our stay was very accommodating. We took advantage of their 24 hour room service on our first night and thoroughly enjoyed the food. They add taxes, gratuity, and delivery fees to the bill, but what else do you expect from room service at a four star hotel? The concierges were very friendly and more than willing to help. The location of this establishment is perfect, right in Downtown DC. The White House, Treasury Department, and executive offices are right around the corner. The area is very safe, with mostly banks surrounding the hotel. The Metro is also only about a block away. We visited Le Bar on our last night, and it was very beautiful. The drinks were also quite stiff. The only negative thing that I have to write about Sofitel DC is that they do not give guests access to self parking; you have to use valet parking. Granted, they give guests in/out privileges 24/7, but nevertheless valet is quite steep at $*per night. Overall, I was thoroughly pleased with my stay at this hotel and would most certainly return for another stay in the future. There is a very chic, European demeanor that this establishment and its employees carry, which makes your stay very pleasant and enjoyable.

Great location- very nice rooms and great bathrooms- friendly staff- only issue (slight) was parking charges ($** per day.

Stayed at Sofitel for a weekend with my husband. We felt we got a very reasonable non-refundable rate. We had a comfortable, clean, updated room with a nice marble bathroom on the third floor. There is no in-room coffee maker, but coffee is available in the lounge in the morning. The location was very convenient. We walked to many sites near the National Mall and cabs were readily available when we wanted to go further off. There were many restaurants within wakling distance. We ate at the hotel french restaurant one night. The service and environment was top notch. My husband had scallops which were outstanding, I had the special sea bass, which was okay. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
