Overall, I did enjoy my stay at the Hardrock Hotel Chicago. It's certainly a first class hotel. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was very accomodating and polite, and the room service selection was very good. The decor was contemporary and modern. I enjoyed the Rock n Roll memorabillia through out the hotel, (but nothing was overly impressive). My complaint number one is the lighting! It was very very dim. I cannot even stress just how dim it was! The lighting in the room and in the bathroom was very irritating by the end of the weekend. It was near imposible to see well enough to put on my make-up and get dressed for going out. I welcomed morning so I could open the drapes and have adequate lighting. This is the sole reason I cannot see myself staying at this hotel again. Other minor complaints include, noise from traffic (mostly sirens) at all hours, and the walls are a little thin. I do believe the guest next to me had small children who were yelling and crying on occasion. I do believe I could hear the shower running in the room next to me when I was in the bathroom too. I had a wonderful time overall in Chicago, and the hotel was very comforting at the end of the day, minus the lighting situation.

Located on Michigan Ave., easy adult walking distance to theatre(s) and good restaurants. Room was minimalist, but had everything we needed. Very quiet and very comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. No extra floor room and light on storage space. Only downer was the one exercise bike did not work. Pricey drinks in lobby bar area, but nice location.

Love the Michigan Avenue location - it's right in the heart of Chicago, near everything! The rooms are also nice and modern, but the real drawback is they are quite dark. Our room overlooked the back of the hotel, and not only did we have very little natural lighting, but there were so few lamps in the room that it perpetually felt dark. Make sure you ask for a room with better views and light if you stay here. There is great rock and roll memorabilia throughout the hotel which was fun to see. Besides that, all was well, and the staff seemed quite friendly. Overall a nice hotel with a great location.

Overall this is a very nice hotel. The decor is modern so that the rooms don't have a lot of direct lighting. We were on the 21st floor and we had a nice view of the Chicago River and Michigan avenue. For families take into consideration that there are not sleeper sofas in the regular rooms. We have three children and had to bring in two twin rolling beds in addition to the king bed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The workout room is larger than expected with a good variety of equipment. The location is great for Michigan avenue shopping, theatre, Museum of art and Centennial Park. Also easy access to the Lakeside running trail. Also a number of small bakeries and coffee shops are within a block or two. Sears tower is a long walk but my young kids did fine.
