I had taken others' advice and stayed in a Tower Room; I had no problems at all. The room was clean, and larger than I expected. Employees at the Front Desk and Bell Desk were very nice. I ended up eating in the coffee shop a few times and the employees were nice there too. I didn't win big in the casino, but I don't play big either. Thanks again, Travelocity!

I would definitely go to the El Cortez Hotel and Casino again. Even though the hotel is older, the staff gave us excellent service. The casino and hotel are connected, but the rooms do not smell like smoke (at least in the Tower where we stayed). We had a wonderful view of Las Vegas from high up in our room in the Tower. The restaurants, which are right in the casino, had excellent food at very good prices. When we checked in, we received a coupon book with several discounts that really made our stay a bargain. El Cortez is only a block from the Fremont Experience and is right on the tour bus route for The Strip. We feel that we got an excellent deal!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was definitely different than the hotels on the Strip. The only drawback in staying above the Casino was that the cigarette smoke filtered into my room and it smelled very bad, especially since I'm not a smoker. The staff were very nice and I enjoyed my stay. I liked that it was right there at the Fremont Street Experience. That was the highlight of staying at the El Cortez. It's right near the highway and that was important as well. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Next time I will shoot for a room far above the casino though.
