My finacee and I stayed at the holiday inn Express in St Ignace just as a weekend get away. We were very happy with the Location, and most importantly the view. We had a perfect view of the lake, and Mackinac Island. Room was very clean, and comfortable. Front desk staff was very friendly, and helpful on resturant suggestions. Over all, i would recomend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area, and the price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.

Likes: Bought a lakefront room, and LOVED the view. Bonus: got a corner room, so it had an additional window. Room was ok-sized. ""Beach"" was quiet. Really liked the pool. It was small, but the spa was attached, so you could sit in it and watch your kids swim. And the water in both were comfortable. Dislikes: Not even close to the usual Holiday Inn standards. Bed was cheap and springy, not the comfortable mattresses I've experienced elsewhere. Bed and shower had hair (lots) when we arrived. Headboard showed lots of smears (of who knows what) when the light shined on it. Room was rather dilapidated--sprinkler hanging out of the wall, some wallpaper peeling, screen on patio door was half off, etc. And the breakfast was horrible. I stayed at a HI in Indiana that seemed fresh enough to be from a restaurant. This was NOT comparable. Eggs were watery mush, gravy cold, biscuits rock-hard, bacon limp and greasy. And that was when they weren't out of items. But the worst part was the bugs. SPIDERS EVERYWHERE!!! I read that from some other reviews, and thought they were just picky. Nope. Everywhere. Couldn't even use the patio. Talked to the front desk about it, and she said that St. Ignace just had a lot of spiders this year. After I got tired of killing them in our room, front desk had someone spray twice during our stay. Hubby still went to the patio and killed 10 in about 2 minutes. My kids spent all their time playing ""kill the spiders with a shoe"" on the patio--no joke. Internet never worked. WAYYYYYYY overpriced. Would have been acceptable as a cheap hotel--NOT a Holiday Inn. And definitely not for over $100 a night!

We took our 1 year anniversary trip to Mackinac Island & stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. It was extremely safe and comfortable. The breakfast was bountiful although the eggs were clearly powder. The pool & hot tub were wonderful! The beds felt like springs were poking us through the mattress. We slept ok anyway because we were so exhausted from our day. The view was magnificent! They do not have a bike rack but the overnight shift does do routine parking lot checks and assured us that they would be safe tied to our car as there had not been a bike theft there in years. We were thankful to have such nice staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
