From the moment you enter the hotel your experience begins. The hotel itself is an old world gem. An on duty concierge is there to answer any questions and set up any excursions. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our room was more than comfortable enough, very clean, great bed, complete with complimentary robes, and we slept well, no noise. Their Carousel Bar was a big attraction in the main lobby, but get there early if you want a seat on the slow turning famous bar! Close to all the main attractions in the area. I loved it so much I recommended it to my niece who got married and went there for her honeymoon 4 months after my trip. I would stay no where else when visiting New Orleans!

This hotel is well steeped in New Orleans history and lore. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights, in a "preferred" room, which was about the same size as any other room at any other hotel. Seriously glad we paid the premium and could at least see the river instead of getting a view of the other half of the hotel. Was hoping for something more than a view when it came to a "preferred" room. Maid service seems to have a different schedule each day - one day hitting the room at 8:30am, the next at 3pm. We ordered room service one night off the late-night menu, and the condiments that came with our tray had already been opened and used. Not what I was expecting for a meal of two sandwiches and a slice of cheesecake that cost the same as a formal meal anywhere else in the city. The Carousel Bar is a must-try! Monteleone was worth the stay, but next visit to New Orleans will have us staying at a different hotel.
