Cute hotel in a quiet part of the French Quarter but within easy walking distance to everything. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were small and dark, no windows in the patio rooms but did have french doors that opened onto the patio. Very comfortable bed and the jacuzzi was great.

The Dauphine Orleans is located on quiet street in the French Quarter. The room was small, but charming with a wonderfully comfortable king sized bed, Stiffel lamps, and shuttered windows. The bathroom was very nicely done with marble tiles and countertops - great shower! Had initial problem with a poorly functioning air conditioner, but was repaired immediately after a call to the desk. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The continental breakfast was very nice, with lots of choices, including freshly made waffles...We were very pleased and would definitely stay there again.

Our friends stayed in the hotel also, but their room was located on the side of the street opposite the lobby. That side of the hotel had a much nicer atmosphere because of the garden and the rooms were nicer and appeared newer. All of the pictures on the Dauphine website were taken from that side of the street...even the rooms. The one couple stayed in the room with the wooden beams, which was really a nice architectural detail. And, they had mini-refrigerators and our room did not. Our room didn't even have a closet door. The pool was very small and I never saw anyone around or in it. The breakfast was nice. The hotel bar was o.k.

The hotel is an older, boutique hotel. The rooms were adequate and the staff was friendly. The location is the best part of this hotel. It was in walking distance of everything. We did have to change rooms 3 times, but they finally got us into a good room. We would stay at this hotel again.

The rooms were fairly simple, but clean and nicely decorated. My only two complaints would be that the hotel provides shampoo but not conditioner and there is not a hair dryer in the bathroom. The beds were interesting...it's that comfort foam stuff...I slept great on it it, but let's just say it isn't very conducive to other activities one might do on a bed. The rest of the hotel is also simple but nice...no grand lobby or anything, but there is a "coffee area" where free complimentary breakfast is served with a good selection of breads, fruits, cereals, and a waffle maker. The pool is smallish, but just what you need on a hot summer day in New Orleans. The hotel bar, Bailey May's, was my favorite though, I think we grabbed a pre-dinner drink every night we were there. It has a very turn of the century feel, and the bartender and regular patrons are friendly and fun. The hotel also gave us coupons for free drinks at the bar when we checked in. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great, just a block off Bourbon street and the famous restaurants; and if you get tired of the "touristy" bars as we did, there is a great little Irish pub called Fahy's just two blocks away. There's also a little general store type play just a block away that has the cheapest atm we found all trip. In sum, this isn't a fancy place, but if you are mainly just looking for a good base from which to explore the rest of the French quarter, this place will likely meet all of your needs. We would definitely return.
