We were given the option after making a non-refundable reservation at this hotel to reconsider. If we had only known... the place is fine once you actually get into the room, but the common areas are in pretty sad shape. The elevator (only one of the two were working) was in very bad shape and often arbitrarily stopped at each of the 4 floors. Again, the room itself was fine. The bathroom had been fairly recently upgraded. The free wi-fi was good once it started working consistently. We suspect that they weren't prepared for a sudden influx of laptop-prone guests, but the access improved on Thursday evening and stayed consistent until we left at midnight on Saturday night (Gustav chased us away) In our haste to get out to the airport (on the advice of the front desk clerk) I forgot my toiletries bag. I called from the airport to ask that it be retrieved and shipped once the staff were allowed to return to the city. A week and a half later, I called to find that they, indeed, had the bag but were waiting for me to call and give them a credit card number to ship it Not a problem in and of itself, but I would have preferred receiving a call... there were hundreds of dollars of medications which I had to replace at full cost. In summary, I'd stay at this location again, but not for anywhere near the cost of nearby hotels.

This hotel is perfect for staying in the French Quarter.. Close enough to Bourbon St but not too close to keep you up al night. The parking is a bit stiff, othrwise I highly recommend it

My wife, daughter and myself stayed at the Dauphine 8/18-8/26. It is in the heart of the French Quarter and only 1 block off Bourbon. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The continental breakfast was quite nice as well as adequate. We enjoyed staying here very much and would definitely do it again. The only downside for all this is parking if you drive your own car. No matter how you do it, it will be expensive. The Dauphine does have parking but it is not cheap (it is safe).
