I chose the Dauphine Orleans for my first trip to New Orleans last summer; I didn't know the Quarter at all, so it was kind of a blind pick. Every aspect of our stay was absolutely perfect - we stayed in a double (it was the only thing available when we booked) and had a view of a neighboring (closed) hotel's pool & courtyard...very pretty view. The bed was incredibly comfortable with tons of pillows, the room was impeccably clean, and the marble bathroom was GORGEOUS and luxurious. Even the toiletries were great! The wall-mounted LCD television was very nice, the wi-fi worked perfectly and the staff was always pleasant. The breakfast was served in a sunny, cozy room on the first floor with fresh strawberries and other fruits, boiled eggs, packets of cereal, milk, juice, croissants and a waffle maker with a pitcher of batter (that was continually refreshed by the staff - nothing sat out too long or got nasty). Definitely a step above the usual free "continental" breakfast of cereal, milk, juice and apples that most hotels offer! The pool was clean and very refreshing, the courtyard was peaceful and pleasant and May Baily's was a charming surprise - bookshelves full of books that you're encouraged to take and read, a beautiful bar, excellent drinks (have a Sazerac and be authentic!) and a great place to unwind. The location is ideal, only a block from Bourbon and a very safe walk even at 3 am. The streets are well-lit and there's a used bookstore right across from the hotel! Very quiet location but right beside all the action. Tons, TONS of restaurants and shops within a stone's throw of the front door. I am returning this summer and absolutely cannot wait!

This hotel was in a prime location- one block from Bourbon street! Close enough to the action, but far enough to be away from the major noise at night. The courtyard pool was nice, continential breakfast very nice! The staff was all helpful and pleasant, recommending restaurants and places to see. The only complaint I had was they empty the dumpsters right in the middle of the parking (most rooms above) and the noise at 7:45am was severe. Additionally, the rooms were not clean when we arrived, had to have the maids re-clean them, and later a few days after we'd been there, I found old garbage under my bed. Yuck! Cleanliness was poor- but the rest of our stay at this hotel was nice.

The Hotel was in a great location, far enough off of Bourbon Street (one block) that you cannot hear the crowd. But yet close enough to safely walk anywhere in the French Quarter. I would agree with others that the elevator is a little small, old, noisy, and not sure about the reliability. I wonder how old it is and how many people it has handled over the years. The room, was a little small, but very nice, clean , nice 37" (about that size) LCD TV in the room. I would also agree that the walls seem a bit thin, as you can hear noises in the hallway. However, the bed was OUTSTANDING !! VERY COMFORTABLE, great nights sleep !!!! I felt that all staff was very friendly, did not park a car, took a taxi to and from the airport. Breakfast was good, just what is says a "continental breakfast". We ate it everyday. Would definitely stay at again.

Although you are in the french quarter, you are not on Bourbon, but a block away. The place is fairly nice although the elevators make a somewhat bad impression at first. The rooms are small, and the walls toward the hallway are a bit thin and you can hear all the noisy people. However, the tempurpedic beds make up for that by far. Slept like a baby (after hitting Bourbon). The hotel bar is nice, cozy, with good music selection as well as very reasonably priced drinks. It is great for pre and post partying. Staff is friendly at the bar, not so much around the rest of the hotel, but nothing bad, just indifferent. Fruit, yogurt, and waffle maker for breakfast (6:30 till 11:00) help with getting up after a night out. It was a great price for the hotel and its location.

While the location of the hotel is great, there were some issues with the stay. First, we found the bed in our room to be very uncomfortable. We also notice that the drain was partially clogged in the shower. Other than that, the room was decent especially for the price. The elevators were somewhat questionable, one seemed to be out of service the entire week while the other one did not look like it was doing so hot. My biggest issue with the hotel was the cost of the valet parking, if you have a car, it is going to cost you $28.00 a night plus tax. There is no real viable alternative unless you want to park a mile or two away and pay $10 - $20 a night. There is no self parking on site and street parking is impossible. I would probably stay again but I would check out some other rooms to see if there is a more comfortable bed. Other than that, the best thing was the Jager Haus which was located just a minute from the hotel on Conti Street (I think it was Conti). The food there was unbelievable and reasonably priced. We had breakfast there almost everday despite the complimentary breakfast offered at the hotel.
