We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dauphine. It's close enough to the action of the French Quarter, but it remarkably quiet. The staff was friendly and courteous, the breakfast was above par, and the location is unbeatable. This is now my hotel of choice in the French Quarter in NO!

I was so happy that I found this hotel! Perfect location to all of the activities in the French Quarter. The hotel is the right balance of old world charm and modern amenities. My room had a balcony out onto Dauphin street that was picture perfect. The bed super comfy and the staff was very nice and proactive about making my stay pleasurable. I did not check out the fitness center or breakfast offered until my last day but the fitness center looked good and the breakfast okay. I would totally stay here again!

We loved our 5 night stay at the Dauphine Orleans. The hotel location is perfect, close to the action-but quiet. The continental breakfast that was included in our stay was terrific, with plenty of options. The courtyard and pool area are well kept and beautiful! I have to be honest, the housekeeping staff at the Dauphine Orleans is the best I've ever seen! Our only real disappointment was the "afternoon tea" that is listed as one of the hotel amenities. We stayed for 5 nights and there never was an "afternoon tea." We were certainly looking foward to this amenity, but it was not offered. Other than that, we would highly reccomend the Dauphine Orleans.

Wife, 3-year-old and I stayed here for several days during Christmas holidays 2009 and loved it. It's a really cool hotel just a block or so off Bourbon, so it's right there, but it's also quiet when you want it to be. Close to a cool little store in the French Quarter if you need personal items or food, this is just a really cool place. The Saints lost twice in that stretch, but the Super Bowl win erased all that pain. Stay here and enjoy yourself immensely.

  • Perfect 3-day-weekend home-base, and perfect-sleeper mattresses!

My wife and I came for a 3-day-weekend getaway and booked directly with the front-desk to get a last-minute Memorial Day Weekend reservation. Even though the web-page reservation system didn't recognize our existence, a confirmation call to "in-house-reservations" assured us that we were expected. We walked almost everywhere, or took the busses and streetcars, didn't have or need a car. The weekend stay was enough to satisfy our desires to attend a party in the nearby Midtown area on Friday, and visit the WWII Museum on Saturday, and go to church plus Commander's Palace Restaurant for Sunday-Brunch, then taxi to the airport for return home (to Detroit) that evening. We strolled around the French Quarter; the location of the hotel made it easy and we didn't even spend any money, there was so much "cheap-seats" entertainment all around the area. The comfort-level of the room and the soft premium mattresses was better than what we enjoy at our home! The included morning breakfast-buffet was good-and-hearty, and the adjacent front-desk service was impeccable. I forgot my video camera in a taxi cab, but the front-desk coordinated my contacting the cab company to have the cabbie return it to the hotel, and the hotel mailed it back to me (charged me for the shipment costs, of course, and I gave a $* tip each for the cabbie and the front-desk besides). The bartender was entertaining a a free-drink coupon was included with the check-in packet! The historic John J. Audobon Birdwatching Studio is part of the hotel building. Downtown New Orleans has lots of good hotels, and Dauphine Orleans is mid-priced among them, but Dauphine Orleans is the only where we have stayed twice't already, and we'll be back there again and again to facilitate our craving for New Orleans tourist fun!
