We picked this hotel because of its affordability, but couldn't have been happier with it. The location across from the beach is convenient. The Tiki Bar has great drinks and service - we stopped there almost every day. And we always took advantage of the free breakfast. While it's nothing fancy, the insulated bags they provided allowed us to eat breakfast on the beach almost every day. And not having to buy breakfast every morning only added to this hotel's great value. Some people have complained about the noise in the hotel rooms, but we were 1 floor up from the lobby overlooking the pool and never had any problems with the sounds from the lobby or bar. Finally, all the staff we interacted with couldn't have been more accommodating and eager to help. I would definitely return to this location.

This is not a beachfront hotel. It is across the street and down a ways to the beach. Ocean front room means street front rooms and the street sounds do carry. The "free" breakfast was pastries, bagels, cereal, coffee and juice - one nice thing was fresh fruit. Everything else co$t, aka omelets, anything warm. There was not enough room to sit and eat your breakfast in the breakfast area/swimming pool area. If you want a table to eat there, you are advised to get there by 6:30am. Breakfast is over by 9am-hello-this is a vacation! The hotel is old and not terribly clean. The room doors look a little beat up. The walls in the room were dirty esp around the thermostat, the phone had dirt on it, the hair dryer had dirt on it. The bathroom was quite old-the toilet was 18 inches off the ground. The room does not have a coffee machine and the entire hotel does not have a microwave that the guests can use. The room "balcony" fits one chair and one footstool or 2 chairs if one person gets into the first chair before the other person pulls the second chair out on the balcony. In room internet was $10 a day. The safe was $3 a day. I see they have chaged this by adding these 2 services for a mandatory $10 a day charge. There is free wi-fi around the swimming pool/breakfast area but be ready to sit on the floor because of the lack of seating space. There is also beach renovation going on in front of the hotel which sounds like construction noise. The hotel was in a good spot for walking to restaurants and shopping.

This was the first time my husband, daughter and I had ever been to Hawaii. This hotel has a great free breakfast for on the go items as they give you a cooler bag to pack and take with you any where. You also have the option of ordering food that they will make for you at an additional cost but seems for the most part very clean and looks like they are in the works of a make over. It is in a great location and is with in walking distance of the beach, many stores, bars and or food. If its not close enough every type of transportation you can get stops right out from of the hotel whether you want to ride a tour bus, trolley, double decker bus or take a cab. If you want the city bus it stops only a block away. The pool area is great and you are able to check out towels and chairs. The internet is only available on the pool level which was a misunderstanding for us. The only thing that we weren't happy about was the minor details of the room. There were spots in the bathroom that needed to be deep cleaned and or painted. In the main area the ceiling had 6 or 7 brown spots and a couple bubbled area as there could have been a leak in the past. The floor in the bathroom and the tub weren't as clean as they could have been. But overall the hotel was great, people were nice and the room was ok as we did have one of the cheaper rooms with only a partial view. We didn't see any bugs, the carpet was clean, the bedding and mattresses were in great shape and the free all you can eat breakfast on the go was awesome. Had a little bit of everything like donuts, muffins, breads, danishes, bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, milk, coffee, lots of other juices and a few other things. You were also able to order a waffle and a few other things at an additional charge. So take a bag of food for free and you have snacks for the day. :) We would return for another stay possibly just upgrade to a better view and or room.

The Tiki Lounge is a lot better in the photos than in real life. The food was really awful. We ordered 2 meals there. Both were inedible and both times the bartender tried to charge us twice. The toilet was difficult to flush and the room wasn't terribly clean. One day, we went out for an all-day excursion and arrived back at the hotel at 4:30pm and the room hadn't yet been cleaned. The pool area can be very slick. The free breakfast was jam packed. There are several options for dining that are connected to the hotel which was great.
