The Aston Waikiki is a nice hotel, especially if you are headed to the beach. The south end on Waikiki is very tourist and a little lower in comparison to the northern end. The free breakfast is a cafeteria style by the pool in Styrofoam dishes and cups. No real table by the pool. The bathrooms are dated, i have a joining door to the room next door which allowed me to hear the couple next door have an argument. Over all, good for the price. My main purpose was business and i was at the wrong end of two to get to Honolulu. Staff was friendly.

The Aston Beach hotel made for a very good stay in waikiki. It's location is great--at the end of the strip so its beach is far less crowded than more central areas. We walked to the aquarium and overlooked the zoo from our room on the 21st floor facing diamondhead (which i would recommend...even over ocean view rooms). Rooms were clean and pleasant. The only issues i had were the scrawny pillows and hastily laid bathroom floor tile (picky, eh?). Complaints about the elevators were unfounded. I found them quite efficient (and nice interiors) The bfast was a bit crazy but good fruit and baked goods. Problem is i can't get the hula music out of my head....i've been humming "somewhere over the rainbow" all day, even when shoveling snow out of my ND driveway. Tips: take bus to hanauma bay (#22) just around corner by Hans Hedemann (Most expensive board rental around...but convenient) surf shop rather than pay for pricey shuttle. Also, try not to step on the homeless. Rent a jeep for a drive to west or north shores...be sure to get shave ice up north rather than the worthless and overpriced stuff in waikiki. Red Lion was an inexpensive meal on the strip. Also, Wolfgand Puck's downstairs made for a good lunch no more expensive than McDonalds. Don't miss Duke's Canoe Club...very cool. If i am lucky enough to travel again to waikiki, this is where i would stay.

It all started from day one when we arrived at the Aston. Our taxi pulled up to the hotel we took our own suitcase out of the taxi (no biggy) after paying the taxi cab driver we turned around there was NO ONE there to greet us or more importantly where to check in was (by the way is on 3rd floor) after looking for signs a guy dressed like he worked in the kitchen said ck in is on 3rd floor. We had paid for ocean view they told us the room and luckily my bf was smart enough to figure out it was a view poss of the palm trees and rt above the bar with a live band. So we went up in floors which gave us the view(not when elevator is down getting serviced that later). Now my bf likes his coffee even b4 both eyes are open in the a.m. and you would think being a 4 happy faced rated hotel you'd have a coffee pot in ur room NOPE! dont' bother calling asking for one they don't have any. We got up early to enjoy the day thought we would try the cold complimentary breakfast and it was large white plastic TUBS filled w/cold mini bagels, mini muffins ok where were u supposed to sit an eat? they had a few pool tabs so we had sat on pool lounge chairs (no hottub at this hotel) to eat. Oh if you wanted to eat a hot breakfast they serve it in styrofoam containers LOL! come to think of it I don't recall seeing any room service. One morning we came back from a long walk/hike had a big breakfast near by to find the elevators were being serviced LOL not one working.
