Perhaps it was just a bad room, older tower. Rio used to be one of our favorites but it seems they haven't kept the rooms up. Casino and buffets are still great. However, Carnival buffet no longer has the mexican steak, lemon meringue or pecan pie, and consolidated the mongolian and japanese into one (very oily). Salads were great but nothing particularly memorable anymore.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The Rio restaurants are somewhat limited but luckily there are several restaurants within walking distance. Close to Spring Mountain Road, a must if you enjoy Asian cuisine.

My husband and I enjoy staying especially when we get a room facing Red Rock. We enjoy being off the strip but still having many options to go wherever we want. Seafood Buffet is really good deal and enjoy the vibrant Mardi Gras vibe.

Hotel was great overall. Check in took quite some time (only had 3 employees) but she was very friendly. We did have to wait for our room to be ready and were a little lost trying to figure out room number system. Room size was great! Sofa had lots of stains and carpet had that dirty feel. The free shuttle service was also great!

Let me start by saying this hotel was great! We went to vegas to get married and decided to stay at the RIO because it was off the strip . When we got there it was an 1 1/2. before check in and the staff still checked us in with no wait and no extra cost.We had a fabulous view of the mountains from our room ...watching the sun rise and set over the mountains was beautiful. On the day of our wedding they saw us and gave us 2 free drinks at the bar and free passes to their very nice club that is inside the hotel. The staff was very nice and roomservice was quite reasonable and quite fast with our breakfast even though we ordered it at lunch time. The Rio had 3 theme pools ...all different temp. frosty, cool, or warm so depending on the temp outside they had what you liked.We had a great time and will be returning to the RIO for our 1st anniversary!
