I've stayed at the Rio many times before this trip and I'm always happy with the room, service, and value but this trip was totally happy surprise. When my husband and I checked in we asked for a room on an upper floor with a nice view and what we got was beyond our dreams. We were treated to a Penthouse Suite which was bigger than my house!! We had the time of our lives checking out the room and sending pictures to our friends. The Rio is a great place to stay and the regular rooms are roomy and comfortable but this stay was "one for the books" :)

When we arrived the first thing the lady at the check out counter did was try to get us an upgrade. There weren't any avilable but she did get us up on the 37th floor facing the strip so the view out of our room was incredible. The room is self was very nice and modern looking. We only stayed one day and I wish it had been more. I thik the only thing i could even complain about is that it was kinda confusing to get around in but, hey it's a casino, they're planned that way. Check out the Voodoo lounge on the roof top, you can see the whole strip.

I just got back from a convention which was located at this hotel. I decided to stay here mainly because it was convenient, and the room photos looked really good. Well, I was frustrated to find out that simple internet access cost $13.99/night, and the fitness center was $22.99. I refused to pay either one, so used my Blackberry for internet, and went to the fitness center at UNLV for $10/day. ( The facilities at UNLV were far superior, and they had a real pool!) The first night I was at the Rio, I was awakened by hotel fire alarm going off about 1:00 am which blares over the phone speaker. I suspected it was caused by some partier somewhere in the hotel and wasn't too concerned, then buried my head in my pillows to muffle the noise.. Eventually, the announcement came that it was a false alarm, and they were "invesigating the cause". The minor frustrations aside, I woke up the next morning, got ready and started to head down to the convention...only to find some guy passed-out on the floor - right in front of my door! I thought he was dead. His glazed eyes were partially open, but I saw (heard) he was breathing, then just got really angry. Some woman who looked to be a security person was pacing around, and told me she thought the guy belonged in my room...so didn't do anything. As I was running late, I went to my meeting, but came back to the conceirge desk an hour later and complained to the woman there. She seemed apologetic, but didn't offer to move me to a different room, or anything. I wanted to leave, but only continued to stay there because of the convenience. Long story short, if you want a place that is restful and sane, the Rio is NOT for you. If however, you wish to relive your college frat days, then this is the place for you. Apparently, you don't even need to pay for a room either - any ol' horizontal space seems to work as a bed! Absolutely will NEVER stay there again! You have been warned!

A nice hotel for money and location just off the strip, although it's starting to show it's age, rooms may have some stains on walls, ceiling and furniture, but are kept clean. The rooms are fairly large, suite style more accomdating for 4-adults. The pool is nice area to hang out but be prepared.., drinks are costly $$$ poolside a little much for this hotel. The hotel offers a free shuttle between 10am-1am to other hotels on the strip.., so if you plan on staying out latter than 1am you'll need a cab, or walk back. They also have a large buffet...,but the day we ate breakfast it about was 8: 15am. But the price is only good until to 8am, which after 8am they consider it brunch which also very costly $$$, if you just want bacon/ eggs and coffee. This is my 8-trip to Vegas...2nd time @ RIO and would stay again, price was to good to pass up.

This was my first time to Las Vegas, and it was a real treat. I stayed at the Rio for a convention, and everything was great. The only down side was the sheer size of the convention center made getting from the center to main casino a long walk. Other than that everything was great. The room was fantastic. Nearly first run films on the TV (it was a small TV. I would have preferred to see a flat screen for the price of the room), room service was very quick, and the gambling areas were clean and upkept well. The 'Show in the Sky' was pretty good, even if it did seem like a High School production with a little more flair. The restaurants were good and fairly priced. The 'strip" shuttles came quick, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. My first experience with Vegas was pleasant, and I'd recommend the Rio to others.
