Check-in was slow but polite. One desk staff was on the phone and the other checking in a large party which got extensive attention. Rooms were priced appropriately for Boston waterfront and hotel is a 30 minute walk or shorter trip on public transportation to downtown crossing. Rooms (2) were noisy with hallway conversations, ice machine dispensing, and slamming doors audible at all hours. Valets politely refused tips and bar adds 18% gratuity to your tab so there's no need to calculate a tip.

We reserved a room at the Seaport more than a month in advance for a family trip to Boston. When we arrived, we were told that the room we reserved could not house a family of 5. We had the option of switching to 1 king bed with 2 fold outs, or upgrading to a king suite w/ pull out at $50 per night. We went ahead with the upgrade, and were glad we did for the fabulous views of the harbor and city, but were not happy with the unexpected, added cost, or that we were given a reservation (when we had specified the size of our family when we made the reservation) that could not accommodate our family. We cut other costs by eating off-site at a cute little mom & pop deli, and not ordering room service or drinking the expensive in-house bottled water!
