This hotel is comfortable, well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. Although the room was a bit on the small side, it was nicely furnished, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Hayes Mansion and will stay again when visiting San Jose.

Great place to stay.  Nice grounds, pool, and jacuzzi.  Bar on premises.  Quaint and very quiet off the highway.  Suggestion for any future stays.  Stay on the top floor.  It's older, very clean and well kept, but the floors are wood so foot step sounds carry downward.

  • A little piece of Nirvana

I stayed at the Hayes Mansion last week. I was traveling on business. The hotel is about 10-20 minutes from downtown San Jose, depending on traffic. It is in a beautiful area that is a nice retreat from the concrete jungle. Unless you plan to eat at the hotel there are not a whole lot of dining options close by, however this gave me a chance to explore the area. The appeal of this hotel was that it seems like a lot of businness travelers and conferences go through, so I was surprised that there were a lot of children around in the pool. My room was right next to the pool and not very sound-proof, so my room was very noisy and the pool area was filled with kids. If you are looking for a pool to sit by and read a book, this may not be the place for you.

The Dolce Hayes Mansion Hotel is a wonderful historic hotel with a load of modern/updated amenities. Two critical observations. First, its a little hard to find. The sprawling San Jose community has engulfed this hotel built in 1905. Second, finding dinning options "off premise" is not easy. That said, I found some real gems: High Five Pizza (good lunch option and sports bar) and Aqui Cal-Mex (excellent food and margarittas).
