We stayed at the Firelite over the 4th of July weekend. It was pleasant and low-key. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and function, and great for families. Kings Beach is a short drive and Tahoe City is not far either, so worked well for us as a home base. There is a very minimal breakfast served in the mornings that worked for us - you can make waffles and there were danishes, cereal, canned fruit, oj, milk, water, coffee and tea available. The swimming pool was small but still fun for a quick swim or for the kids to splash around. We had a first floor room that opened to the pool and there were chairs and chaises in front our our sliding door for lounging - really nice to have breakfast out there in the morning. A small beach was across the road. While it's not the popular beach that Kings Beach is, it was accessible and not too crowded. Also, there is a fabulous hole in the wall Mexican taco and burrito place next door to the Firelite. Great fish tacos and Sierra Nevada to wash it down! We did have some very loud guests who blared incredibly bad '90s pop music too late one night - just some drunk college kids. But besides that factor, our stay was as expected.

We were attending a very prestigious boat show...so we needed a safe place to leave our belongings and this was perfect for that. Though they had no extra room for our boat trailer there was room in the adjacent lot which they recommended to us.3 other trailers used the same lot.
As we were always at the show, we didn't need their pool or continental breakfast, so cannot rate that. The room was always made up nicely, when we returned.
The only annoyance was not being able to use their High Speed internet...which they had advertised, but we had no lap top..and were told to go to an internet cafe or to the ibrary..inconvenient when you are a stranger.
It was very noisy..as the room faced the road...so we had to close the windows, which was no problem as it was cold at night. We would stay there again if we do another boat show. We had friends who could not find anything and they were forced to rent a house. It pays to book early. We arrived a day early, and they managed to get us into the same room for 6 days.
It was a housekeeping unit...with a microwave, fridge and sink but no dishes or utensils available for us to use. Odd.
