Very nice, upper scale hotel. Great location. Hotel had a Narcotics Anonymous convention going on during our stay & we had a tough time getting to the elevators because the convention rooms are right next to the elevator doors.

Everything about my stay at the Galt House was perfect. Upon arrival at check in I was asked if I would like a free upgrade to a suite. Of course I accepted and it was probably the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The staff was great and the location was perfect. I would definitely go back.

  • Excelent for the price I paid, OK if you pay asking price

Being located right on the riverfront in an upscale "looking" building, one would think it was a great place to stay. However, this was not the case... First, I had to pay nearly $30 to park for one night and to make it worse, the garage where I had to park my car was like a quarter mile from the entrance of the hotel. Great start. So for the service, we called prior to making the reservation to ensure we would have access to a microwave. When the person on the phone said microwaves were available upon request, we purchased enough food for the evening so we could prepare it in room to avoid going out or having to pay for room service. After finally getting settled and calling to request a microwave, they told us it would be right up. So we waited...and waited...and waited, then I finally called back and talked to someone else who proceeded to tell me that they did not provide microwaves, as microwaves were illegal in hotel rooms. Ha! I can't even remember the last hotel I've stayed at (especially a 4 star hotel) that did not have a microwave. The room also lacked a mini fridge. I requested to speak to a manager, who then blamed the hotel clerk, stating that she "wasn't that bright". It was completely unprofessional and the call ended without any accommodation at all. By this point it had been over 2 hours since we had first called and we ended up throwing away a bunch of frozen food and went to bed hungry bc they charged ungodly rates for room service. To top off the trip, the room literally made me laugh bc of how outdated it was. The mid 80's to early 90's wallpaper was peeling in every corner, the bedspread was paper thin and felt like sandpaper, the mattress was so old it felt like I was sleeping in a ravine, the tub was super tiny and for breakfast the next morning I think I paid like $15 dollars for 2 eggs and some OJ. Oh, the pool? Don't even waste your time. It's straight from the 80's and definitely not heated. All in all, I guess it's true what they say, "all that glitters is not gold". Don't be fooled by the fancy exterior. I recommend the Seelbach hotel; A bit more pricey but definitely worth it and their brunch is phenomenal.
