I really enjoyed myself at this hotel the only thing the hotel needs to work on is internet and cellular phone service. This hotel is so far out in the bush its hard to get reception also their needs to be more lights on the road heading to the hotel besides that the hotel is excellent.

Pros: Beautiful resort, renovated rooms, nice beach, friendly staff. Restaurants in town (a 30 min drive) are very good. Cons: Too expensive, restaurant food just okay and also very expensive, property is remote so you need car to drive to other attractions and restaurants, rooms have small ants and cockroaches so you probably won't want to use the in room kitchens. Response from front desk is inconsistent. Noisy from staff golf carts and work to the units. The weather can vary from sunny to cloudy to rainy. So be prepared.

This is the second time I stayed here. The setting is beautiful with a nice stretch of beachfront and a good sized pool. Very quiet. It is the ideal spot for a couple or family that wants to get away from it all. The room size was fantastic, more than twice the size of other hotels in this price range. The hotel restaurant served high quality food at prices comparable to most other restaurants of its caliber. Bar prices were relatively low. The only drawback was that the hotel is off the beaten track and not too close to the better restaurants in Christensted. The hotel is a $20 cab ride from the airport. The road is winding and narrow but I recommend getting a rental car if you want to see the island.

Despite the poor rating I gave, the Renaissaince at Carambola is about as nice as it gets in St. Croix. The location is beautiful. Our room was right on the beach, and we enjoyed the patio. I hate to say this, but we had mold growing on the walls in the bathroom, a big brown water stain above the shower, a broken toilet seat, and one of the faucet knobs on one of the sinks didn't work. We also had a pipe leaking in the closet and the bed was the worst I've ever slept on. We just lived with it though because after seeing how most people live in St. Croix, we were thankful to be where we were. The only reason I would go back this resort would be for the dive shop located at the resort, Sweet Bottom Dive. They made our vacation incredible! The rest of the staff at the resort was 50/50, you never knew if you were gonna be greeted kindly or not.

I have stayed at the Palms at Pelican Bay in the past but we wanted to try some place else this time. We had seen Carambola as we snorkeled and thought it would be nice to be away from the city. The room was beautiful! The screened in porch was so nice that I almost slept out there. Close to Cane Bay and my new favorite pub Above the Cliff. Don't miss the hike to the Annaly Bay tide pool. It is breath taking!
