Perfect stay. Certified historic hotel, sophisticated decor, extremely comfortable room and bedding. Excellent staff at all levels, polite, gracious, and very helpful. Currant Brasseries has a fine bar, excellent food, and great espresso. Please remember that this is an elegant city hotel, so do not expect typical large chain hotel rooms. One of the top five hotels at which I have ever stayed. I would welcome a return to this fine hotel.

Very nice hotel. Enjoyable stay. Provided nice walking tour on the history of the area. Friendly staff. Nice bar. Room was a bit noisy at times but didn't disturb our sleep. Walking distance to most activities.

I recently returned from a great stay at the Sofia Hotel in San Diego. The room was small (reminded me of a NYC sized room), but more than adequate for one person. The room nicely appointed, the cleaning staff made up the room quickly after I left each morning. The front desk staff was very friendly. The exercise room was one of the better ones I've used. Service and food in the attached restaurant was great. Hotel is located right outside the Gaslamp District and is an easy 10-15 minute walk to the convention center. The room was $100 less than any other 4 star hotel, and I couldn't imagine that the room and service at any of the comparable hotels would be any better than the Hotel Sofia.

The location was great, it was clean and the furniture was modern and good qaulity....oh and the bed was REALLY comfortable, BUT the room was unbelievable SMALL!!! I 've never seen a room so small!! My bedroom at home is much bigger!! TV was Small, furniture was cramped, and the veiw was uuumm non existant...all you see out your window is a VERY CLOSE view of the next building, which was brick, old and could allow peolpe to see right into your room. My last complaint was this hotel allows dog, so the room next to us brought theirs and all I heard from 7:30am to check out was their dog bark and bark...and bark!! Kinda ruined the whole idea of getting away for the weekend and sleeping in:( I've always been one to read reviews so I was extremely disappointed when I opened the door to our room, because this hotel got 4 1/2 faces but with all the other hotels downtown and for the same price I personally would never stay at the Sofia again!
