First time stay at this end of the strip.. To say the least it was great and better than I expected. The hotel is a resort and you pretty much don't have to leave. From the restaurants, casino pool and entertainment and spa it's a complete package.. Would recommend to anybody...

So stay here if you want a great pool experience. I highly recommend the cabana chairs but you should know the prices change daily depending on how busy the pool area is. Not only are they really comfortable but you get free water. Don't stay here if you want to be in the middle of the action on the strip. This hotel is at the end of the strip so expect to walk a lot or take cabs to get to the other hotels that you will want to see.

Finally got to see the Mandalay Bay!

We finally had the opportunity to stay at Mandalay Bay in August of this year and here is what I think everyone should know. Having stayed at several casino hotels over the years (The Mirage, The Rio, Texas Station House, Fiesta, The Excalibur, The Luxor, Lowe’s {off strip} Red Rock and even the Landmark before they tore it down! In Tahoe, Harvey’s, Harrah’s, and the Horizon. Mandalay Bay does in fact have a few nuances that made the trip both memorable and interesting. Let’s start with the food. We had room service three times, ate at the Red, White and Blue, Raffle’s, the Buffet Brunch, the Yogurt City, and of course Starbucks. In my opinion, what makes a hotel casino stand out (among other things…) is how consistent their food services and quality is. We had breakfast lunch and dinner over the course of our stay and everything was excellent. I don’t criticize service too much at casino restaurants because (having worked in restaurants for almost 15 years) I understand the challenges of trying to feed hot food to thousands of people quickly without delay or mistakes. People who have not worked in restaurants should be forced to be waiters to understand the difficulty in this dying art. The portions were huge, the quality very good and the service “timely”. My only “raised eyebrow” was the Sunday brunch buffet price of twenty five dollars. The Rio is still my favorite for the price. I do not like the entry area for the buffet at Mandalay Bay. It is too easy to “walk in and eat” without paying. Excellent variety, but I still think 25 dollars is a tad bit high for brunch in Vegas. Now let’s talk about the pool. I still believe the pool and all related services are a deal breaker for a casino resort in Las Vegas. If you do not have a quality product that is sustainable, you will lose customers over time. We chose the Mandalay Bay “because of” the pool. I did online research and read reviews and we discussed options at length with the concierge. When I asked (name withheld) what the Cabanas cost (ball park) the answer was anywhere from 300 dollars to 1300 dollars depending on the “demand, location on the property, and time of year”. Was this correct? No way to know. However, this was confirmed by two of the resort employees who we spoke with while at the “beach”. The wave pool was great (I am still laughing at people who acted as though they’ve never seen a wave before…maybe they have never seen or been at the beach before either!); the lifeguard’s job is insane. There is no way these guys can monitor the number of people in the wave pool at any given time. This is a “beach” (real sand that gets incredibly hot by 3PM! Ouch! Have foot wear that can get wet) but artificial turf would be so much better and require less maintenance. Always crowded, hard to find a chair, and the cost to have an umbrella or cabana is a bit over my head. But for those vacationers that save all year for this trip, it may not be an issue. We lucked out every day (hang out, scope the area and wait for people to leave and you can snag a beach chair). I almost thought every family with at least three kids was there the same weekend as me! But the fact remains that this model for Las Vegas Resorts will not change because it is geared for profit by serving as many people as possible at the least possible cost. Check it out!

had a good experience, check in within 20 minutes, were given a nice room on 34th floor. beach and pool crowded, no chairs, lifeguard helped us find two chairs on side pool. though resort fees were high, $25 a day plus tax made it $28. Went ot starbucks on sat morning, huge line, got out of it and found coffee and breakfast at another place.
