The hotel was great, but I choose Mandalay Bay for the beach and pools. What I didn't know was that there is no shade available to those of us who cannot afford to rent a cabana or even a chair with umbrella. Shade cannot be rented by the hour, and the least expensive shade costs at least $50.00 for a chair and additional $25.00 for an umbrella (which you cannot rent without the chair). $75.00 per person minimum per day to avoid skin cancer. We went to the beach after 5:00pm when the sun wasn't so strong and stayed in the shadows that were beginning to form. They also do not rent inner tubes any more. Plan to buy one if you want to use a float for the lazy river. The $25.00 required resort fee gets you entrance to the beach and towel service.

Not much comps or perks offered aside from a free bottle of water here and there. The sportsbook is good, The pools are really nice. Bed was very comfortable. I have stayed in THEhotel before if you are going for the weekend the the Mandalay bay is just as good if you are staying longer you may want to stay @THEhotel.

Being further down is the hotels advantage. Went early for a conference spent some time with a friend and then business. We were able to check in early - got a great strip view room - the room was perfect - very large lots of space and very nice!! new carpet smell in hallway, everything in great condition. Staying here was like having the best of both worlds. If you want the action you can head downstairs to their casino or head on down the strip... if you wanted to just relax and feel like you were on vacation without a worry - we jsut stayed on property. The restaurants were great - not one bad meal. No reason to even leave! From the second we got there - the staff was wonderful, offering water, early checkin, a big smile, friendly - they did it all right which as you know as a traveler sets the tone for the stay!! Pool awesome - cocktail service very slow so it's best to just get up and go to the bar. Bartender even let me help design a drink. They do not allow any alcohol that you did not purchase in the pool area in so do not go to the bar that's outside the pool area and expect to be let in. Even if you just spent $24.00 on drinks - that should be a disclaimer before you even buy the beverages that in 50 yards it needs to be consumed to tossed. This is a great hotel for girlfriend getaways, even families if you have to take your children to Vegas and romance. They did it all right!! Eat breakfast at THE CAFE - Custard Pancakes and Crab Benedict!! OMG!! PS Do not even move any room service items - we moved the container that had vodka in it and it tipped over and we did have a charge for this but was corrected at check out.

My husband and I went to the Mandalay Bay for a few nights in APril. The pool/beach area of the hotel is amazing! There are a ton of beach chairs, and we always found a spot no matter what time of day we went. The pool definitely gets crowded by the end of week/weekend but during the week we always found front row seats at the pool. The hotel and casino are really nice, just very far from the strip. The location of the hotel is not ideal.
