When we first pulled up to the hotel my daughter and I felt the neighborhood was a bit sketchy. It was a Sunday and there were a lot of people just standing around and made us feel a bit uncomfortable walking by. The hotel itself was clean. The room was small, but updated. The continentale breakfast room was tiny and there were only donuts, bagels, and juice. It was close to the subway which was convenient, but we took a taxi at night because we were a little unsure about walking in the area at night. During the day there were a lot more people walking to work and such so we felt much more comfortable. I would maybe stay there again, but would probably get a room closer to Times Square and the action.

We stayed here with our 2 small kids and enjoyed walking to everything. The sub was close by. The only negative is that the continental breakfast and the eating area were very limited. The eating area is way too small and uncomforatble to be around so many people at breakfast time bumping into each other. very nice staff and doormen.

I chose this hotel in part based on all of the wonderful reviews. Now I'm here, in the hotel re-reading the reviews and I have to ask myself ' What were these people thinking?' The smell of cigarette smoke is so heavy that the tons of green apple air freshener they pumped into this room can not mask it. It's January, and I"ll be sleeping with the window open just to survive the night. Thank God I'm only here for less than 24 hours. This is more of an old apartment building that's been turned into an inexpensive place to leave your luggage while you enjoy the city. Just don't plan on spending ANY time in your room. Also- there's no lobby, and you can't have anyone visit you here, as they lock the doors at 11pm.

the folks were kind- we are pretty relaxed travelers and were only staying for the night, so we didnt really ask for a lot of assistance. the breakfast was filling and tasty, if a little limited... woke up to a cold shower that just wouldnt turn even lukewarm, though we did manage to get a little warm water from the sink, so maybe if we had let it run, say, an hour or so it would have come. but in all seriousness, the location was super we had a clear view of the empire state building from the free upgrade to a junior suite, all at a very modest price so we had no complaints really at all.
