The location was perfect! An easy walk to Chinatown, and steps away from the cable car route! Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very comfortable. We never went to the restaurant at the hotel because I felt it was too pricey, and it seemed rather empty. There were other's close by, so there was never an issue. We enjoyed our stay here and would definately come back!

I just returned from 2 nights at the Orchard with 4 friends. We had 3 rooms and were on a long "girl's weekend". We found the accommodations at the Orchard Hotel to be wonderful. The rooms and bathrooms are generous in size and nicely appointed, as well as spotlessly clean. We commented time and again how quiet it was; we noticed virtually zero street noise (unusual in SF) and no room-to-room noise. The staff at the front desk were most accommodating and really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They did so many little things: from always greeting us as we came and went, rooms were ready on time, convenient access to a computer and printer to take care of our boarding passes in advance, a late check out to help us with making the most of our last day, working to make a few changes at check-in to give us adjoining and adjacent rooms, and more. We also enjoyed a late afternoon break in the bar enjoying champagne and appetizers during their Happy Hour. I look forward to a return trip and would not hesitate to recommend the Orchard Hotel to anyone.

The Orchard Hotel has many things going for it. It has a great location near Union Square and Chinatown -- within easy walking distance of North Beach. On top of that, it is literally just steps from a major cable car stop. My room was newly remodeled, more spacious than I expected and very clean. To top it off the staff members were friendly and courteous. Very limited room service but a good restaurant next door for breakfast and a very good restaurant in the hotel for dinner --- plus a huge range of easily accesible dining options. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff was very helpful with details for us. The beds were so very comfortable, which is always my biggest worry. Yes, there's a hill but big woop, unless you're in a wheelchair (and we're pushing 60). We took the local bus to Sausalito for the day and the ferry back. It was fabulous. We rode the cable car, which is just steps away from the hotel, to Fisherman's Wharf. We walked through Chinatown and had a lovely sandwich and drinks just oiutside the Chinatown entrance. Just around the corner from the Orchard there's a cafe for any meal and half way down the block is a kereoke bar. We were so very happy with everything and will stay there again next time.

The location is wonderful, just off Union Square. Take BART from the airport and get off at Powell Street. From there you just walk uphill a bit. We had a very quiet room on the 10th floor, a big room for a San Francisco hotel. And we had a nice view. The staff was very courteous. The room was very clean, but the carpet had obviously seen better days, which was a small price to pay for the good room rate. Nice toiletries and bed linens. We slept like logs.
