Room was attractive and clean, byt we could not sit on commode in bathroom without hitting (with our right arm) the washtowel bars which were attached to the nearby sink. Very uncomfortable due to that. We were all the way at the end of the hall, across from the laundry room, and each day (3) huge bags of dirty and clean laundry were piled in the hallway, thus causing us to continually step over and around them. If you can stay up toward the front you'd do better, but how do you know? Also a ramp is temporarily installed on the steps, causing difficulty to go up them until you're in a wheelchair or standing on a dolly. Free breakfast was nice enough and the porch view was worth it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good quality beach chairs are provided.

Our reservations at Winter Haven were made months before our visit. A day prior to our stay I called to confirm our reservation and the type of room (two double beds as stated on our confirmation form). The reservations representative confirmed it all, including the room with two double beds.
When we arrived we were given a tiny room with two twin beds. I complained to the front desk that we hadn't reserved that and he was totally indifferent. Said they were all the same and that there were no other rooms anyway. With that he turned and walked away. The next day I again talked to the front desk to a different person who was so sorry said they would adjust the room rate. Of course, that person wasn't around the next day when we checked out so we ended up paying the full rate for the wrong, inadequate room.
When trying to talk to a manager the staff, with one exception, all were either rude or completely indifferent. On the day of our departure I asked if there were a business center where I could check-in on-line and get boarding passes. There was none. I asked if the front desk could check in for me. I was told by the front desk representative that they didn't have any computer or printer!! Hard to believe.
A horrible experience. The continental "breakfast" was also lousy. Don't waste your money. It's worth it to pay more and stay at a hotel with a name and reputation you can trust. The attitude of the staff and their complete indifference to -- at a minimum -- honoring their reservation ruined our trip to Florida. -

Fantastic hotel for the price. Best value on South Beach ! Outstanding location ! Excellent staff, extremely kind & helpful. The rooms were average, but most importantly - clean. The daily ammenity fee was well worth the $7.50 per day. Also, I would pay the extra money for an ocean-front room.
I will definitely stay at this hotel again. -

We finished our tour of S Florida here and wished we'd arranged more than the two nights, as the staff, were so pleasant and helpful. The local car park (municipal) was $8 a day and only 2 blocks away, very convenient! Breakfast was continental and adequate, and location superb. Would stay again.

I've been to South Beach several times, but when my regular hotel was under renovation, I decided to try out the Winterhaven. Little did I know that there was major construction underway on the street right next to the hotel. That was the first issue. The noise from the street began at 7 a.m. and didn't end until well into the evening. The staff was extremely unhelpful about accomodating our request to move to another room, even though it wasn't a busy week. The "beach chairs" they provide are not lounge chairs, so I would reconsider paying the resort fee. Just rent the chairs on the beach...they're much more comfortable. The breakfast was adequate, nothing special...and no one on the staff was overly friendly. I've had much better stays at a couple of hotels on South Beach for the same price. The location's great and that's about the only positive thing about this particular hotel.
