Although the room was large and near shopping, the room had a very strong chemical smell the entire time. The bed was very uncomfortable and very low to the ground which I did not like. There were maintenance problems that were not addressed and although I was offered another room I decided that although I had pre-paid the week, I left and booked into another hotel.

Although this is an older hotel I prefer it to other newer hotels in Alameda. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the grounds are well cared for. The staff is always helpful. I feel safe when staying at this hotel. I've stayed at Coral Reef before and plan to stay there in a couple months when I return to Alameda.

Friendly, helpful staff. The desk staff went out of their way to help us, printing directions to various attractions, telling us which areas to frequent or avoid, printing boarding passes, and generally helping us whenever they could. The hotel is located next to a large mall with lots of eating spots, grocery stores, and department stores. It is also about a block from a beach, in a more residential area. It is 16 miles from San Francisco via the Bay Bridge, but the ferry is much faster and closer and the desk staff had schedules and directions. The hotel is older and a bit run down, but the size, cleanliness, and staff more than made up for the lack of flat screen TVs and ceramic tile.

This is my second stay at Coral Reef. I am very pleased with my stay. I had everything I needed. I love the location and my morning walks along the bay. I plan to stay there again when I return in June. ON the last day, I did not get my 6 AM wake-up call. Luckily, the radio alarm did go off. When I checked out, I told the woman at the desk. She asked when I called (the night before), and then replied,"Oh, he always messes up." She didn't seem concerned....ooops.

The room was nice more like an apartment. Room cleaned everyday cleaning ladies pleasent. While I was there for 4 nights I had a habit of going up to front deak to ask for assistants. The only good help I recieved was from Joyce and without her I do believe I would of left this hotel. Thanks Joyce. Might want to clean the carpets overwise my stay was great.
