I liked everything about the Hilton -- the room was spacious, even luxurious; the staff was friendly and helpful; the bar and the outdoor firepit were pleasant; everything was just fine. The only criticism I have (and it's a tiny one) is about the hotel's advertising. It says the hotel is "in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter," but it's not; it's actually at the very edge of the Quarter, and you have to walk a couple of blocks to get to a very active part of it. That was no problem at all, but at the same time there was no need for the ad to exaggerate in that way.

  • Nice hotel, though felt unsafe and taken advantage of

We stayed at the Hilton two nights and will never return. We were told we were "upgraded" to the Loft portion of the hotel. Never mind my husband, with a bad knee, was pointed to a flight of stairs to climb up and down each day in order to cross a courtyard, to access another elevator, which smelled like cigarettes, to reach the loft portion of the hotel. Construction workers used the elevator all day and it was either full of people, materials, or smoke. The courtyard door into and out of the building was left propped open so the workers could have easy access. I was told it would be closed at dark. When we arrived back at 11:30pm, it was still propped open with a rock, leading right to the elevator. Great security. The loft portion of the hotel also has no wi-fi, which I wasn't told about before we settled in. So even though my room came with free wi-fi, I had to go down the elevator, cross the courtyard, down another elevator, and go back to the hotel lobby to access the un-secured Hilton wi-fi. The valet parking was $40 per night. The garage one block away was $10 per night. Guess where we parked? The staff was pleasant, but the hotel is a 'do not return.'

  • I enjoyed my stay at the Hilton.

With the exception of how long it took to get checked out, our stay was very nice. there restuarant was amazing as well.

Excellent location in gas-lamp area- easy walk to everything including convention center. Parking- $36/d - easy pull up and drop off, our car was ready within minutes of calling each time. Check in was worst part of stay. A long wait followed by Exceptionally long check in process for some reason. Then pointed in a direction and told to take elevator to our floor. Wandered all over floor without finding our room number, back to same check in line, to be told we were in "lofts" and an entirely different part of hotel. No apology. Terrible customer service. Room was small but clean, quiet and comfortable.

  • They don't care about their customers as long as your payment clears

Let me preface with this was not our first trip to this hotel, but it will be our last. When we checked in the girl at the desk was not friendly at all. We were given a room on the 4th floor of the lofts. It was warm when we got in but turned up the a/c and thought it would get better. The next morning our room was in the mid 80's so we stopped by the desk on the way to breakfast and they sent someone up. When we got back from breakfast they said that the blower wasn't working and they would have to get in the attic. So at about 9:30 we left for the morning so the could work. When we got back around 2:30 they were still in our room, they had cut sheet rock out of the ceiling so there was dust everywhere and everything in the closet had been put on the bed. We went down to the desk to ask about it and were told that they would be there for a few more hours. It was the same girl at the desk and she didn't apologize or even act like she cared. We asked if we could move to another room and were given keys to a room on the 3rd floor. The second night there we were woken up around 12:00 am by a huge party in the room down the hall from ours. They were so loud that after about 20 minutes we called the front desk to have someone from security come up. After about an hour it quieted down again. The next morning when we went to go to breakfast someone from the party the night before had vomited all over the stair well. After that we stopped using the stairs. Went we went to check out at the end of the trip they had charged us for waters that we didn't take and when we went to the desk to explain it was the same girl. She was very abrupt and unfriendly again.
