My family of six, which included me, my husband and four children just stayed at Hyatt Place for 6 nights and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel staff is extremely kind and helpful, and they try really hard to make everyone feel welcome. Prior to arriving at the hotel, I called a few times to check to see how the weather had effected the area and each time, one of the hotel staff answered the phone, they were kind and patient. One staff member in particular (Thomas) was caring and he asked us everyday how our trip was going and what we had planned for the day. The hotel is in the perfect location. It is close to the beach, the zoo, many local restaurants, and the international market. We were able to avoid the crowds and still do all of the "touristy" type stuff.

We booked this hotel in a hurry via iPhone after landing in the Honolulu airport and finding out that our house rental in Haleiwa was unavailable due to flooding from the heavy rains in early March. This is a great hotel overall. Newly remodeled and re-opened in early December 2011. The rooms are all moderized and include a refrigerator. Our room was huge - two queen beds and a couch/hide-a-bed. Large flat-screen TV. Great view of Diamond Head. Free wireless internet access is available and the speed is quite decent (4 mb/sec). This is a good hotel for familes. There is a very good continental breakfast included free every day on the 3rd floor. It can be a bit windy at times, but there are plenty of places to sit even on busy mornings and good selection of food and drinks. You can get complimentary coffee every morning in the lobby which is quite good. This hotel is at the east end of the Waikiki strip and right near Kapiolani park which is a great place to walk around. You are one block from the beach and a wide variety of restaurants. There are plenty of places on the nearby beaches were you can rent recliner chairs and umbrella. You can get beach towels at the hotel lobby on your way out for the day and return them when you come back. The hotel staff is very friendly and I highly recommend this place. There are only a couple downsides. The hotel is not considered "full service" as it has no restaurants inside, but there is a bar area where you can order food and drinks 24x7 anyway so this wasn't really an issue. There is no room service available, but if you are eating food in your room you are missing the point of being in Hawaii in the first place. The bathroom sink area is a bit small for two people but adequate. We were on the 19th floor and although the hallway and adjacent room noise was minimal, it can occasionally be a bit noisy from the fire department engines scrambling as the fire station is only a couple blocks away. If you walk into the room at first you might notice an unusual, but not foul smell. It is apparently called "awake" and is some kind of corporate Hyatt Place thing they do. You won't notice it once you are in the room.

just a block away from the beach, room was a great size, very modern. my main complaint is that all the street noise was enough to keep you up at night, all the tour buses, trollies, trucks, etc, made it too noisy to be comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Hyatt Place, was beyond expectations. Newly remodeled, friendly staff, nice work-out room, great mountain or ocean views, clean, safe, free wireless and fabulous breakfast buffet! less than 2 blocks from Waikiki beach and 2 blocks from the Honolulu zoo. I would recommend and hope to be back. Mahalo- to all the Staff @ Hyatt Place.
