We booked this hotel for one night at the end of a cruise. Check-in was easy and our room was clean. You can get to the Ala Moana shopping center, but it does require a walk through a parking garage. The staff was very friendly. We had requested a late check-out but they were not able to grant it. Understandable since we were there the week right before Christmas.

Our room was tiny, but clean with great amenities. It even had free internet. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. It is within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. We will stay at the Ala Moana again!

the rooms are tiny, the beds are old and saggy; you will feel every movement of your partner! The safe did not work and it took ages to get service. It never got fixed! The hotel is not on the beach and your view is of a shopping Center and a very loud intersection with all night noise. The YMCA is across the street in a neighbourhood not suited to late night solitary walks. plenty of shopping mall type fast food restaurants nearby if that is what you are looking for.

During the worst of the recession this hotel and many others suffered with staffing shortages but it's BACK! I was happy to arrive and have line moving quickly and a happy full staff waiting to check me in. The rooms are gorgeous and comfortable. The Kona Tower is smaller so I usually choose to spend a little extra and stay in another tower which I enjoy very much!
