- The Marina Tower is a separate condominium building located next to the Equus Hotel. Guests staying in the Marina Tower must proceed to the front desk located in the Equus lobby for check in.
Please note that there is a short flight of stairs from street level to The Equus lobby. Please contact front desk for luggage assistance.

great place to stay!
02/03/2011The hotel let us check in early and they were very friendly. the shower was a bit small but other than that the hotel was clean and quiet.

The hotel is located on the far end of Waikiki so to speak. You could walk to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall but if you wanted to walk to all the markets and shops in the heart of Waikiki, it's too far. The room we had was pretty small and crowded and I had to ask the front desk for a blow dryer. It did have a refrigerator, but I don't remember a microwave being in the room. For the price it was average and clean. The continental breakfast was sparse to say the least, juice and/or coffee and some kind of pastry. All in all, I would stay further into Waikiki to enjoy the beach and shopping.

The equus has two hotels on one property. The pictures of the nice hotel aren't from the cheaper hotel. Elevator broke 3 times in 9 days. Continental breakfast is a roll, fruit cocktail, and a cranky guy handing it out! You get what you pay for. Stay Somewhere else!

Plusses: The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was perfect for us. The room was attractively furnished and very clean. The balcony was pleasant. The location is within easy walking distance of Ala Moana park (a delightful spot to hang out), multiple franchise restaurants (the IHop was a particularly good IHop), and other tourist services. Minuses: Our room, listed as a "City/Mountain view" had no view at all. except of the wall of the neighboring tower and the parking lot below (which was, I admit, landscaped with lush tropical plants around the border but it was still a parking lot). There was no wireless connection in our room, although there was an ethernet cable. If you have an ipad or similar device, however, you will need to go to the McDonald's down the street for coffee and wifi. Context: I came to Hawaii on a personal business trip, so we did not use any of the amenities and did only limited tourist activities.

The Equus Hotel and Marina Tower was a pleasant surprise for the price. The staff was as friendly and helpful as I have experienced at a hotel. The hotel room was in very good condition and was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel location was excellent, within walking distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Parking was a small problem (as it is all over Honolulu). It is $* a day to use the hotel parking. There was free laptop connection in the room. If you wanted to use the PC in the lobby, it was 25 cents a minute. This PC was useful to me since I had not brought a laptop. The only real problem with the Hotel was it's location on Ala Moana. This is a very busy street and so traffic noise at night was considerable. I was on the 3rd floor. I would ask for a room on the highest floor the next time I stayed there to cut cut down the road noise.
