This hotel was conveniently located to EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE we wanted to visit. The openess of the hotel helped to enjoy the beautiful Hawaii views of the Marina; mountains, beach and city skyline. There were days we would just hang out by the front door of the room and take pictures of the majestic views. The lanai was a added treasure; we would sit there at night and just be in awe of the views from this side of the hote. The room was beyond our expectations; Very comfortable; clean and the bed was so peaceful after a long day of going. We have been to many hotels during our travels but this one we constantly bragg on its employees; location; and value. I can't wait til our next vacation in August; we have decided that this is the ONLY place we want to stay. This place made us FEEL AT HOME!!!

Hotel is actually a condo/hotel. There are some permanent residents who live there and the hotel rents out the rooms. Our room had a great view of the ocean and city, but there was nothing special about the room. It was very plain and old but clean. Our room did have a small kitchen area with plates and basic cooking supplies. Although, we never used the kitchen. Continental breakfast was nothing but juice, coffee, and bread. This was disappointing. The hotel did have a small store/restaurant that had good breakfasts but you had to wait until 9:30 I believe when the continental breakfast ended. Hotel was located about 2 blocks from the ocean. The near by beaches were very clean and not as crowded as the main Waikiki beach so this was very nice. Easy walk to the beach. Hotel was within a 5 minute walk from a large mall with lots of nice restaurants and stores. Hotel was near other restaurants and within a 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop. There were several rental car places just a block down the street also. Parking was I believe $20 a day at the hotel. If you are looking for a not so fancy hotel, with a great price, and good location this is your hotel.

We stayed at the Equus in August 2010 to attend a wedding and make a vacation out of the trip. The hotel was relativly close to the beach (Hilton) which was pleasent. However we needed to walk SO FAR (more then a mile) to get to anything. It didn't appear to be that far away and we thought walking would be great, it wasn't. Especially when dressed up for a nice dinner in heels. Our room was in one of the towers. At least one of the elevators was broken all the time and both were VERY slow. Our room was on the 12th floor and twice neither elevator worked and we had to trudge down 12 flights of stairs! Glad we didn't forget anything in the room. But had to carry everything needed for the day since we were not sure if the elevators would work again later! More about the room: the room was dirty, the floors were dirty- you almost didn't want to walk barefoot. Bathrooms were ok, not great! When we asked the clearning crew to change our sheets, they said "yes" but never did. The room was equip with stove, fridge, plates and utensiles. We bought our own breakfast and it was nice to have those. We had to do our own dishes everyday (not my idea of vacation). Breakfast: not great, but not advertised as great. It was ok. Couple of different tiny muffins and juice. Neither fresh. Checking in and out was a breeze. Staff were fine.

The reviews from Trip-Advisor were apparently written by yuppies expecting to get more and pay less. Location was great.....walking distance to the Moana Center and Wal-Mart. One block from McDonalds. Breakfast was carbo so bring your own cheese if you need protein like me (diabetic). Every Tuesday at 5PM the manager has a social with munchies and wine. That's innovative.......didn't cost a lot for the hotel and impressed the guests. The theme was equestrian, and as a Texan I can tell you that means there were pictures of horses on the wall. That's all it means.
