Location was great staff helpful but hotel was very disappointing

We were not told hotel was under construction our room had peeling wallpaper, stained carpeting, no A/C in hallways or in extremely small elevator and only after complained about room was told they could give us a room on the renovated floors. Bathrooms were sparse of towel rods and very little counter space or shelf space for toiletries Would not stay there again!!

Safe neighborhood, convenient location, clean hotel.

I guess we stumbled upon the best budget hotel in NYC...or so my boyfriend was told by a repeat customer in the elevator of the hotel. And we agree! Great neighborhood and so close to the subway (lines 1,2, and 3). Getting from and to LaGuardia Airport was a piece of cake using the M60 bus and catching the subway on 125th. Too easy! and even at 6 in the morning. We were able to walk to Central Park, only about 3 blocks. The room was clean and had emergency amenities such as a toothbrush and shaver, complimentary, and also complimentary cereal breakfast bars that were replaced every day. Only complaints I had were the slow elevators and the wait to get hot water in the shower. Besides that, we had an awesome stay!

07/02/2012I arrived at the hotel at 2:30, check-in is at 3:00 and of course the room wasn't ready. the desk clerk offered to upgrade my room ...
I arrived at the hotel at 2:30, check-in is at 3:00 and of course the room wasn't ready. The desk clerk offered to upgrade my room to one that had been newly renovated so I took it. It wasn't cleaned yet either. At exactly 3:00 the room was ready. The building had two elevators and I was on the 12th floor, right below the penthouse. The room looked clean until I took off my sneakers and walked across the room in my white socks. The bottoms turned brown, really brown. I bleached them when I got home and wore my shoes the rest of the time. I slept on top of the bed not daring to get under the covers for what i might find. The lock on the window was broken and there was no screen so I could've crawled out on the skinny ledge if I wanted to, or jumped. Not a room for kids. The bathroom was nice with slate floor and huge shower but no place to put your toiletries. WiFi didn't reach my room, or anyone else's either because everyone was crowded into the small lobby using their laptops or phones. Thank goodness I spent most of my time running around NYC.
