It is a historical hotel. Hotel lobby and ground floor halls were artistic thus beautiful. Staff were helpful. We stayed in a two queen size bed room which was large enough for a family of four. Breakfast cost per person was very high.

The room was nice and quiet, and the wine hour was really fun. The hotel is right on the edge of a sketchy neighborhood, but I felt safe, and the location was convenient to Union Square. Watch out for the bell hop swtch scam. He grabs your bags and expects a tip for bringing them to the desk, whereupon a different bell hop takes over and expects a tip for bringing them the rest of the way. Of course I tipped both guys, but I did not appreciate the tactic, as I feel the guy taking the bags at the door should bring the bags to your room and only stick his hand out once, especially when there is no line at check in, and we are talking about two bags and less than 5 minutes total from curb to room.

I stayed here on business, and loved the location. The room was a bit smaller than I would have liked--but it had all the essentials. The parking was expensive, but the parking was expensive everywhere. It was SF afterall. Also, I needed to print some documents for a meeting and was prepared to search all over for a Kinkos. But I was delighted to hear that they offered free printing. They host a website where you can upload your documents, and you can bring your "print code" to the front desk and pick them up. This saved me a lot of time and money. I was very impressed with all the staff members.

My colleague and I stayed at Hotel Serrano during a business trip. The hotel was conveniently located downtown. Interiors were nice and everything was close by. The room was a little small but other than that it was great.
