I stayed here with my husband for our honeymoon. It was a wonderful little hotel. The staff were very accomodating from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The doorman were excellent as well.The room was small but it was very clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. It was the type of place that you definantly want to use the closet and draweres to unpack your stuff if you are going to be there for awhile as there isn't much room to leave suitcased lying around. The bed was comfortable, extra pillow in the closet was nice and we used it. The bathroom wasn't a bad size. My toiletry bag hangs which was useful as there wasn't much counter space but it was still a nice bathroom and the shower had good water pressure. The evening wine hour was nice. We made it to a night or two. If you want a seat during the wine reception be sure to get there early as there was never anywhere to sit when we got there. We stayed on the top floor and had a nice city view from our window. housekeeping also did a nice job, our room was cleaned every day we were there. Adjoining eatery a bit expensive, food was decent. Don't order room service, ridiculously over-priced especially for breakfast. Overall a nice hotel that served its purpose while on vacation. Location was great, very close to everything in union square. Would definantly stay here again.

I read reviews here before staying. I agree, if you are traveling with kids, not really the place. The rooms are smaller, since it is an older building. However, if you are not a cry baby about that, you will love it.
Right by Union Square, so many places to eat. Rental car places are next door. Cheapest parking in town across the street. And you can't forget the blanket covered homless guy you get to trip over down the street. Pretty much everywhere, not so much around this hotel. You can look at the neighborhood crack lovers safely from your room.
Also, I needed a plastic fork for my leftover chinese food. Oh yeah, room service hooked a cracker up.
Stay here, you have the SF feel and great free beer and wine in the evening. -
Kimpton Hotels Rock!

The location was very good and we did not hear much traffic from our room. It is a certified Green Hotel which I like. Parking was a giant rip-off. Found S.F. denizens to be rude and indifferent.Saw twi girls trying to do the push and grab scheme where they still a purse or wallet when one pushes another into someone. The crowd looked at them in amazement. Then the girls threaten to beat me up. Will go back to NYC next time.
